This is a list of world records in Olympic weightlifting. These records are maintained in each weight class for the snatch lift, clean and jerk lift, and the total for both lifts. The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) restructured its weight classes in 1993, 1998 and 2018, nullifying earlier records. Péter Baczakó
Péter Baczakó (born 27 September 1951 in Ercsi – d. 1 April 2008 in Budapest) was a Hungarian weightlifter. He won a bronze medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics and a gold medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Overall Baczako won a total of 23 medals, including four gold, at world and European championships from 1973 to 1982. He spent his whole career at the Budapest club BKV-Elore, where he became a coach after he retired from competing. Peter Baczako died on April 1, 2008, in Budapest of cancer. Blagoy Blagoev ( bg, Благой Благоев; born 4 December 1956) is a retired Bulgarian weightlifter. Between 1976 and 1984 he claimed seven gold and five silver medals at the Summer Olympics and World and European championships. He set 18 world records. 13 of them were in the snatch. His last snatch world record was 195.5 kg in the 90 kg weight class, set on 1 May 1983 in Varna and remains the heaviest weight ever snatched by a middle heavyweight. Blagoev was a two time Olympian. He represented his native country Bulgaria at the Summer Olympics in Montreal (1976) and in Moscow (1980). He won a silver Olympic medal in the light heavyweight 1980. Dragomir A. Cioroslan (born 15 May 1954) is a former three-time Olympian, Olympic bronze medalist middleweight weightlifter born in Romania. He has lived in the United States since 1990. He competed at the 1976, 1980, and 1984 Olympics and won a bronze medal in 1984. Cioroslan won 10 national championships titles in his native Romania from 1974 to 1983. Besides weightlifting he participated in bodybuilding competitions. Between 1985 and 1990 he served as deputy secretary general and national coaching director of the Romanian Weightlifting Federation. Nedelcho Lazarov Kolev ( bg, Неделчо Лазаров Колев, born 26 March 1953 in Kableshkovo) is a Bulgarian Olympic, European and World Weightlifting Champion. He had success at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow and won 6 gold medals at the world championships in Manila and Havana, Cuba. He has worked as chief coach for the national teams of Bulgaria, Bahrain, India, Thailand and Indonesia. From 1965 to 1980 he competed only for CSKA Sofia club. His coaches were Angel Akrabov and Zdravko Koev. In the national team of Bulgaria was trained by Ivan Abadzhiev. Kolev has won a total of 29 medals from the Olympic Games, World and European Championships in total, snatch and clean and jerk - 11 gold, 11 silver and 7 bronze.
