1979 Danish 1st Division
The 1979 Danish 1st Division season was the 34th season of the Danish 1st Division league championship, governed by the Danish Football Association. It constituted the 66th edition of the Danish football championship, and saw Esbjerg fB win the championship title. The Danish champions qualified for the European Cup 1980-81, while the second placed teams qualified for the UEFA Cup 1980-81. The three lowest placed teams of the tournament were directly relegated to the Danish 2nd Division for the following season. Likewise, the Danish 2nd Division champions and two first runners-up were promoted to the 1st Division. Founded in 1880, it is one of the oldest clubs in the country and gymnastics and fencing are featured as its main sports. John Eriksen
John Hartmann Eriksen (20 November 1957 – 12 February 2002) was a Danish footballer who played as a striker. He scored 319 league goals over the course of 15 seasons. He played in four countries, namely his native Denmark, the Netherlands, France and Switzerland. Eriksen was a Danish international in the 1980s, appearing in the 1986 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 1988. Early life Eriksen was born on 20 November 1957 in Assens. In 1964 he moved with his family from Assens to Svendborg, where he and his brother started playing football in Svendborg fB. Here he won the Funen boy Championship in 1968. He debuted for the club in June 1975, aged 17. Club career After two season with Svendborg, Eriksen switched to the largest club on Funen, OB, scoring 22 goals in each of his two seasons with the club. Boldklubben 1903 or B 1903 is a association football, football club founded on 2 June 1903, located in Copenhagen, Denmark. Seven times winner of the Danish Superliga, Danish championship (introduced 1913) in Danish 1st Division 1919-20, 1920, Danish 1st Division 1923-24, 1924, Danish 1st Division 1925-26, 1926, Danish 1st Division 1937-38, 1938, Danish 1st Division 1969, 1969, Danish 1st Division 1970, 1970 and Danish 1st Division 1976, 1976 and twice winner of the Danish Cup (introduced 1955) in 1979 and 1986. Slagelse Boldklub & Idrætsforening, commonly known as Slagelse B&I, is an association football club based in Slagelse, Denmark, that competes in the Denmark Series, the fifth tier of the Danish football league system. Vejlby Skovbakken Aarhus (; commonly known as VSK Aarhus) is a Danish football club based in Risskov, a neighbourhood in Aarhus. The club was founded in 2016 when the football departments of Vejlby IK Fodbold and Idrætsklubben Skovbakken decided to merge.
