The 1979 Amstel Gold Race was the 14th edition of the annual road bicycle race "Amstel Gold Race", held on Sunday April 14, 1979, in the Dutch province of Limburg. Road bicycle racing is the cycle sport discipline of road cycling, held primarily on paved roads. Road racing is the most popular professional form of bicycle racing, in terms of numbers of competitors, events and spectators.
