1978–79 Moroccan Throne Cup
The 1978–79 season of the Moroccan Throne Cup was the 23rd edition of the competition. Wydad Athletic Club won the cup, beating Chabab Mohammédia 2–1 in the final, played at the stade Mohammed V in Casablanca. Wydad Athletic Club won the cup for the third time in their history. Wydad Athletic Club
Wydad Athletic Club ( ar, نادي الوداد الرياضي, ) commonly referred to as Wydad AC and known as Wydad, or simply as WAC, is a Moroccan sports club based in Casablanca. Wydad AC is best known for its professional football team that competes in Botola, the top tier of the Moroccan football league system, they are one of three clubs to have never been relegated from the top flight. Founded on 8 May 1937 by seven Moroccans belonging the national movement for independence, led by Mohamed Benjelloun Touimi. They initially focused on water polo to give indigenous Moroccans the right to access swimming pools before Mohamed Ben Lahcen Affani – also known by the nickname of "Père Jégo" ("Father Jégo") – created the football section in 1939, he was the first manager of the team. AS Salé (football)
Association Sportive de Salé, commonly known as AS Salé, is a Moroccan football and basketball club based in Salé. The club was founded in 1928. They used to play their home games at Stade Marche Verte. The new field is located in Bettana. In 2004 AS Salé became vice-champion.
