Ziaur Rahman
Lt. General Ziaur Rahman (19 January 1936 – 30 May 1981), was a Bangladeshi military officer and politician who served as the President of Bangladesh from 1977 to 1981. He was assassinated on 30 May 1981 in Chittagong in an army coup d'état. Rahman was a Bangladesh Forces Commander of BDF Sector 1 initially, and from June as BDF commander of BDF Sector 11 of the Bangladesh Forces and the Brigade Commander of Z Force from mid-July during the country's Independence war from Pakistan in 1971. He originally broadcast the Bangladesh declaration of independence on 27 March from Kalurghat radio station in Chittagong. After the war of Independence, Rahman became a brigade commander in Bangladesh Army, and later the deputy chief of staff and chief of staff of Bangladesh Army. The Ramon Magsaysay Award (Filipino: ''Gawad Ramon Magsaysay'') is an annual award established to perpetuate former Philippine President Ramon Magsaysay's example of integrity in governance, courageous service to the people, and pragmatic idealism within a democratic society. Nurul Momen (25 November 1908 – 16 February 1990) was a Bangladeshi playwright, educator, director, broadcast personality, academician, satirist, essayist, translator and poet.Bangla Natyashahitter Itihash, the most authoritative reference book on Bengali theater He served as a faculty member in the capacities of professor and dean at the faculty of Law in the University of Dhaka. Mahbubul Alam (author)
Mahbubul Alam (1 May 1898 – 7 August 1981) was a Bangladeshi writer. He won Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1965 and Ekushey Padak in 1978. Early life Alam was born in Fatehpur, Chittagong on 1 May 1898 to Moulavi Nasih Uddin and Azimunnessa Begum. He was the second son. He secured a job with the Government Registration Department and served until retirement in 1955 as an inspector of registrations. Career In 1917, Alam joined the 49th Bengali Paltan of British Indian Army, He served in the Signal Corps and Mahbub spent about three years at different stations in Mesopotamia (present day Iraq) before being finally released in 1920, when the Paltan was broken up. Zulfikar Haidar
Zulfikar Haidar (19 November 1899 – 23 April 1987) was a Bangladeshi poet. For his Islamic writings, the Government of Pakistan gave him the title '' Sitara-e-Khidmat''. He was also honored by the People's Republic of Bangladesh with the Ekushey Padak in 1978. Early life Haidar was born on 19 November 1899 at Bhaturia village in Comilla district (now Brahmanbaria) of the then East Bengal (now Bangladesh) to Mahammad Jamal and Chand Bibi. His father worked at the Land Record Department and his mother was a housewife. He started his primary education at Noor Nagar primary School. Ahsan Habib
Ahsan Habib (2 January 1917 – 10 July 1985) was a Bangladeshi poet and literary figure in Bengali culture. He was born in the village of Shankarpasha, in Pirojpur. Before the India-Pakistan partition, he worked on several literary magazines: ''Takbir'', ''Bulbul'' (1937–38) and ''The Saogat'' (1939-43) and he was a staff artiste at the Kolkata Centre of All India Radio. Khan Mohammad Moinuddin
Khan Mohammad Moinuddin (30 October 193016 February 1981) was a Bangladeshi writer. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1978 by the Government of Bangladesh. He is most remembered for being a children's poet in the 1950s and '60s. Career At an early age, Moinuddin moved to Calcutta and worked at a Kolkata Binding House as a bookbinder. After completing his primary education, he attended the Calcutta Corporation Teachers' Training College. He later worked in Calcutta Corporation Free Primary School for twenty years. In 1923, Moinuddin was the editor of the magazine Muslim Jagat. He was sentenced to 6 months in Hooghly Jail for publishing an editorial entitled ''Bidroha''. Abdul Ahad (18 January 1918 – 14 May 1996) was a Bangladeshi composer, music director and singer. He was the recipient of Independence Day Award in 1978. The Government of Pakistan awarded him Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 1962 and Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 1969 for his contribution to music. Early life Ahad was born in Rajshahi in the then Bengal Presidency.
