1978 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship
The 1978 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship was the third edition of the Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship, the quadrennial international men's field hockey championship of Europe organized by the European Hockey Federation. It was held in Hanover, West Germany from 2 to 10 September 1978. The hosts West Germany won their second title by defeating the Netherlands 3–2 after extra time in the final. England won the bronze medal by defeating the defending champions Spain 2–0. Hanover
Hanover (; german: Hannover ; nds, Hannober) is the capital and largest city of the German state of Lower Saxony. Spain Men's National Field Hockey Team
The Spain men's national field hockey team represents Spain in international men's field hockey and is controlled by the Royal Spanish Hockey Association, the governing body for field hockey in Spain. Overtime (sports)
Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. In some sports, this extra period is played only if the game is required to have a clear winner, as in single-elimination tournaments where only one team or players can advance to the next round or win the tournament. England Men's National Field Hockey Team
The England men's national field hockey team competes in most major international tournaments except the Olympic Games. England's only appearance at the Olympics was at London 1908 when they won gold; since then English players have competed at the Olympics as part of the combined Great Britain national field hockey team. England's best finish in the Hockey World Cup was as runners-up to champions Australia in 1986, which was also held in London.
