Art Ross Trophy
The Art Ross Trophy is awarded to the National Hockey League (NHL) player who leads the league in points at the end of the regular season. It was presented to the league by former player, General Manager, and head coach Art Ross. The trophy has been awarded 70 times to 29 players since its introduction in the 1947–48 NHL season. Ross is also known for his design of the official NHL puck, with slightly bevelled edges for better control. The current holder is Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers. History The Art Ross Trophy was presented to the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1947 by Arthur Howey "Art" Ross, former General Manager and head coach of the Boston Bruins and Hockey Hall of Fame inductee as a player. NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament
The annual NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament is a college ice hockey tournament held in the United States by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to determine the top men's team in Division I. Like other Division I championships, it is the highest level of NCAA men's hockey competition. This tournament is somewhat unique among NCAA sports as many schools which otherwise compete in Division II or Division III compete in Division I for hockey. Since 1999, the semi-finals and championship game of the tournament have been branded as the "Frozen Four"—a reference to the NCAA's long-time branding of its basketball semi-finals as the " Final Four". 1972–73 AHL Season
The 1972–73 AHL season was the 37th season of the American Hockey League. Twelve teams played 76 games each in the schedule. The Cincinnati Swords finished first overall in the regular season, and won the Calder Cup championship. 1972–73 NHL Season
The 1972–73 NHL season was the 56th season of the National Hockey League. Sixteen teams each played 78 games. Two new teams, the New York Islanders and the Atlanta Flames, made their debuts. The Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup by beating the Chicago Black Hawks four games to two in the Stanley Cup Final. Pre-season Prior to the start of the season, the 1972 Summit Series took place. It was the first ever meeting between Soviet Union and NHL calibre Canadian ice hockey players. Canada expected to easily beat the Soviets, but were shocked to find themselves with a losing record of one win, two losses, and a tie after four games in Canada. In game four, which Canada lost 5–3, Vancouver fans echoed the rest of Canada's thoughts of Team Canada's poor performance by booing them off the ice. Petr Tenkrát
Petr Tenkrát (born 31 May 1977) is a Czech former ice hockey forward who played in the National Hockey League for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Nashville Predators and the Boston Bruins. Playing career He won SM-Liiga-silver in 2003 and bronze in 2006. SM-gold in 2004 and 2005. Tenkrát's contract with Kärpät ended after the season 2005–06. He started the 2006–07 season with Boston Bruins's AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins, after a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He had signed a one-year deal with the club. On November 11, 2006 Tenkrát was called up from the Providence team to take the place of Boston forward Jeff Hoggan, and scored his first goal for the Bruins, wearing player number 17, in a home game against the Ottawa Senators that same night. Paul Comrie
Paul Gordon Comrie (born February 7, 1977) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Edmonton Oilers during the 1999–00 season. Hockey player Before his short professional career, Paul played for the Fort Saskatchewan Traders, and then for the University of Denver from 1996 until 1999. He was selected in the 9th round of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, 224th overall, by the Tampa Bay Lightning, but never played for them. On December 30, 1997, the Lightning traded Comrie, along with Roman Hamrlik, to the Edmonton Oilers (the team his brother, Mike Comrie, also played for) in exchange for Bryan Marchment, Steve Kelly, and Jason Bonsignore. Mark Dutiaume
Mark Dutiaume (born January 31, 1977), is a Canadian former professional ice hockey winger, who played in the minor leagues and in Europe. Playing career Dutiaume was selected by the Tri-City Americans in the 1992 WHL Bantam Draft, however, he only played three games with the team, as he was traded to the Brandon Wheat Kings in exchange for overager Jeff Hoad early in his rookie season. Following the 1994-95 season in which he scored 44 points in 62 games and the team made it to the President's Cup final, Dutiaume was selected 42nd overall in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres. He would go on to play two further season with the Wheat Kings, before turning professional. Dutiaume turned pro following the culmination of the 1996-97 WHL season, playing for the Rochester Americans, the AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres.
