The 1976–77 Copa del Rey was the 75th staging of the Copa del Rey, Spanish Cup. The competition began on 22 September 1976 and concluded on 25 June 1977 with the final. UD Salamanca
Unión Deportiva Salamanca, S.A.D. () was a historical Spanish football team based in Salamanca, in the autonomous community of Castile and León. Founded on 9 February 1923 and nicknamed ''Los Charros'', the club played in white shirts and black shorts, holding home games at ''Estadio Helmántico'', which seated 17,341 spectators. History Initially formed by Irish students, Salamanca first played in early Spanish championships in 1907, before an official league was founded later on. Francisco Bizcocho
Francisco Bizcocho Estévez (born 22 January 1951) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a right back. Club career Born in Coria del Río, Province of Seville, Bizcocho played his entire career with local Real Betis, nine of his 11 professional seasons being spent in La Liga. He made his debut in the competition on 5 September 1971 in a 0–2 away loss against Real Madrid, and finished his first year with 31 appearances (30 as starter) to help the Andalusians to the 13th place. In 1976–77, Bizcocho played 27 games as Betis finished fifth, and scored the decisive penalty in the final of the Copa del Rey, an 8–7 shootout defeat of Athletic Bilbao. The team suffered relegation in the following campaign, however. Bizcocho retired from football in June 1982 at the age of 31, with top flight totals of 235 games and two goals. José Ramón Esnaola Laburu (born 30 June 1946) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He spent 40 years at the service of Betis, working with the club in various capacities. Club career Esnaola was born in Andoain, Gipuzkoa. He played for Real Sociedad and Real Betis, with 16 of his 20 professional seasons being spent in La Liga. At that level, he appeared in 166 league matches with the first club and 303 with the second, for which he signed in 1973 for 12 million '' pesetas'' as it was in Segunda División; with the former, he started initially as backup to Adolfo Arriaga, but won first-choice status as he became severely ill after shattering his pancreas during a game against UP Langreo. Sebastián Alabanda Fernández (31 October 1950 – 10 June 2014) was a Spanish professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Born in Posadas, Province of Córdoba, Alabanda spent his first eight seasons as a senior with Real Betis, except for a short loan at Rayo Vallecano. With the former club, he made his debut in La Liga on 7 September 1974, starting in a 3–1 away loss against UD Las Palmas. In 1976–77, Alabanda contributed 20 games to help the Andalusians finish fifth whilst winning the Copa del Rey, a penalty shootout win over Athletic Bilbao where he missed his attempt after a 2–2 regulation time draw. Julio Cardeñosa Rodríguez (born 27 October 1949) is a Spanish former footballer who played as a central midfielder. He played mainly for Betis during his extensive professional career, winning the 1976–77 Copa del Rey with the club. He appeared for the Spain national team in one World Cup and one European Championship. Antonio Biosca Pérez (born 8 December 1948) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a defender. He appeared in 220 La Liga matches over ten seasons (eight goals), with Betis, and represented Spain at the 1978 World Cup.
