The 1976 IAAF World Cross Country Championships was held in Chepstow, Wales, at the Chepstow Racecourse on 28 February 1976. A report on the event was given in the Glasgow Herald. IAAF
World Athletics, formerly known as the International Amateur Athletic Federation (from 1912 to 2001) and International Association of Athletics Federations (from 2001 to 2019, both abbreviated as the IAAF) is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, race walking, mountain running, and ultra running. Karel Lismont
Karel Lismont (; born 8 March 1949) is a former Belgian long-distance runner. He competed at the 1972, 1976, 1980 and 1984 Olympics in the marathon and 10,000 m events. He won two marathon medals: a silver in 1972 and a bronze in 1976, finishing ninth and twenty-fourth in 1980 and 1984, respectively; he was less successful in the 10,000 m, finishing eleventh in 1976 and failing to reach the final in 1972. His personal best for the marathon was 2:11:12.6 at the 1976 Olympic Games. Lismont also won one gold and two bronze medals in the marathon at the 1971, and 1978 and 1982 European Championships. In cross country, he won the bronze medal at the 1978 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. Lismont won the 1983 Berlin Marathon in 2:13:37. Mike Tagg
Michael John Tagg (born 13 November 1946) is a British former long-distance runner. He finished second in the 10,000 metres at the 1969 European Championships. Tagg was born in East Ruston, Norfolk. He competed in the 10,000 metres at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, finishing 13th. His sister, Mary Green, competed at the same Games. David Slater (born November 22, 1962) is an American singer and songwriter. Career Slater was the male vocalist champion on TV's ''Star Search'' in 1987. Slater then signed a recording contract with Capitol Records and launched a country music career. He released two albums on Capitol in the late 1980s, '' Exchange of Hearts'' and ''Be with Me''. Mariano Haro
Mariano Haro Cisneros (born 27 May 1940) is a former Spanish athlete, competing in the long-distance events. He was born in Becerril de Campos. Haro ran almost compulsively using his gifted legs to run errands and handle odd jobs. He soon became prominently competitive in a sport he hardly chose. In the 1960s he won almost every 5,000 and 10,000 meter event held in Spain. His closest Spanish competitor was Javier Alvarez Salgado. Haro placed 4th in the 10,000-meter 1972 Summer Olympics final at Munich in an epic battle against Lasse Virén, Emiel Puttemans, Miruts Yifter, and Frank Shorter. Jacques "Jacky" Boxberger (16 April 1949 – 9 August 2001) was a track and field athlete from France who specialized in long-distance races. He was the great hope of French middle distance running, breaking the junior world record in the 1500 metres at Stade Charléty in 1968. He represented France at the 1968, 1972, 1976 and 1984 Summer Olympics, placing sixth in the 1968 1500 metres and 42nd in the 1984 marathon. He also won the Paris Marathon in 1983 and 1985, the 1500 metres title at the 1972 European Athletics Indoor Championships, the Marrakech Marathon in 1987 and French titles in the 1500 metres, 5000 metres and 10000 metres.
