1975 St. Louis Cardinals (NFL) Season
The 1975 St. Louis Cardinals season was the team's 56th year with the National Football League and the 16th season in St. Louis. The club scored 356 points while the defense gave up 276 points. The team appeared in the playoffs for the second consecutive year, by winning the NFC East with a record of eleven wins and three losses. They never returned the playoffs during a full NFL season until 1998, by which time they moved from St. Louis to Arizona. The team was nicknamed the “Cardiac Cards”, because eight of their games were decided in the final minute of play; the Cardinals went 7–1 in these games. After this season, the Cardinals never reached the top of the NFC East again. They would not again have a division title until 33 years later, after they had moved to Arizona, and later to the NFC West. NFC East
The National Football Conference – Eastern Division or NFC East is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). It currently has four members: the Dallas Cowboys (based in Arlington, Texas), New York Giants (based in East Rutherford, New Jersey), Philadelphia Eagles (based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), and the Washington Commanders (based in Landover, Maryland). The division was formed in 1967 as the National Football League Capitol Division and acquired its current name in 1970 when the NFL AFL-NFL merger, merged with the American Football League. 1975 New York Jets Season
The 1975 New York Jets season was the 16th season for the team and the sixth in the National Football League. It began with the team trying to improve upon its 7–7 record from 1974 under head coach Charley Winner. The Jets failed to do so, and finished with a record of 3–11, the worst in franchise history at the time. This would be the first of three consecutive 3–11 seasons, as they would repeat this win–loss record in 1976 and 1977. They tied the New England Patriots for last place in their division, the AFC East, but were awarded fourth place by virtue of their head-to-head sweep over the Patriots during the season. The Jets’ pass defense surrendered 8.12 yards-per-attempt (including quarterback sacks), the second-most in NFL history. Veterans Stadium
Veterans Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, at the northeast corner of Broad Street and Pattison Avenue, part of the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. The seating capacities were 65,358 for football, and 56,371 for baseball. It hosted the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1971 to 2003 and the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL) from 1971 to 2002. The 1976 and 1996 Major League Baseball All-Star Games were held at the venue. It also hosted the annual Army-Navy football game between 1980 and 2001. In addition to professional baseball and football, the stadium hosted other amateur and professional sports, large entertainment events, and other civic affairs. The 1975 New England Patriots season was the franchise's 6th season in the National Football League and 16th overall. The Patriots ended the season with a record of three wins and eleven losses, and finished tied for fourth in the AFC East Division. The Patriots had put up their best season in nearly a decade in 1974, finishing the year with a 7–7 record and earning their first season with at least a .500 winning percentage since 1966. The 1975 Philadelphia Eagles season was the franchise’s 43rd in the National Football League. 1975 was the third season under head coach Mike McCormack, but became the Eagles’ ninth consecutive season without a winning record. 1975 New York Giants Season
The New York Giants season was the franchise's 51st season in the National Football League. The Giants finished with a 5–9 record that was nonetheless a three-win improvement upon their performance at the Yale Bowl in 1974. They played their home games at Shea Stadium in Flushing Meadows, Queens, and had a new logo on their helmet, replacing the old lower case “ny” to a stylized white and blue uppercase “NY”. Texas Stadium
Texas Stadium was an American football stadium located in Irving, Texas, a suburb west of Dallas. Opened on October 24, 1971, it was known for its distinctive hole in the roof, the result of abandoned plans to construct a retractable roof (Cowboys linebacker D. D. Lewis once famously said that "Texas Stadium has a hole in its roof, so God can watch His favorite team play").
