1975 Little League World Series
The Little League World Series took place between August 20 and August 23 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Lakewood Little League of Lakewood, New Jersey, defeated the Belmont Heights Little League of Tampa, Florida, in the championship game of the 29th Little League World Series. This was the only LLWS in which Little League Baseball banned all non-US teams from the tournament, due to allegations of teams from Taiwan using out-of-district players. After an uproar of criticism and an investigation that could produce no evidence of rules violations, the ban was rescinded for the event. Only three games were played in the tournament, consisting of two semi-final games and the championship game. The third-place game was forfeited. This was the last tournament not to feature international teams until 2021, which came about during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. South Region (Little League World Series)
The South Region was a region that competed in the Little League World Series between 1957 and 2000 until it was split into the Southwest and Southeast regions in 2001. The South Region was inaugurated in 1957. The Region originally consisted of teams from Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. In 1957, the Industrial Little League of Monterrey, Mexico won the South Region championship before Latin America was given its own berth starting with the 1958 LLWS. In 1968, Delaware and Maryland moved to the East Region. In 2000, Oklahoma replaced Kentucky in the region for one year before the region split into two. Carl Everett
Carl Edward Everett III (born June 3, 1971) is an American former Major League Baseball outfielder. A switch hitter, he played for eight teams over the course of a 14-year career. He was a member of the Chicago White Sox when they won the 2005 World Series. He threw right-handed and played all outfield positions, and occasionally designated hitter. Vance Odell Lovelace (born August 9, 1963) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher from 1988 to 1990 for the California Angels and Seattle Mariners. Lovelace was a southpaw power pitcher from Tampa's Hillsborough High School, the same school where Dwight Gooden and Gary Sheffield played.
