The 1974 Minnesota Twins finished 82–80, third in the American League West. American League West
The American League West is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. The division has five teams as of the 2013 season, but had four teams from 1994 to 2012, and had as many as seven teams before the 1994 realignment. Although its teams currently only reside along the West Coast of the United States, west coast and in Texas, historically the division has had teams as far east as Chicago. Rod Carew
Rodney Cline Carew (born October 1, 1945) is a Panamanian former professional baseball player and coach. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a first baseman, second baseman and designated hitter from 1967 to 1985 for the Minnesota Twins and the California Angels. The most accomplished contact hitter in Twins history, he won the 1977 AL Most Valuable Player Award, setting a Twins record with a .388 batting average. Carew appeared in 18 straight All-Star Games and led the AL in hits three times, with his 239 hits in 1977 being the twelfth most in a season at the time. Butch Wynegar
Harold Delano "Butch" Wynegar Jr. (born March 14, 1956) is an American former professional baseball player and the current hitting coach for the Bradenton Marauders Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played in Major League Baseball as a catcher for the Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees and California Angels, and was a two-time All Star. Michael Joseph Pazik (born January 26, 1950) is an American former Major League Baseball pitcher. He pitched parts of three seasons in the majors, from until , for the Minnesota Twins. Amateur career A native of Lynn, Massachusetts, Pazik graduated from Lynn English High School in 1968, and was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 4th round of the 1968 MLB Draft. He opted to play college baseball at the College of the Holy Cross. In 1968 and 1969, Pazik played collegiate summer baseball with the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) and was named a league all-star in 1969. Richard Lee Woodson (born March 30, 1945) is a former professional baseball pitcher. A right-hander, he played all or part of five seasons in Major League Baseball for the Minnesota Twins (1969–70 and 1972–74) and the New York Yankees (1974). William Richard Campbell (born August 9, 1948) is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1973 to 1987. He played for the American League (AL) Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, and Detroit Tigers and the National League (NL) Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, and Montreal Expos. Dave Goltz
David Allan Goltz (born June 23, 1949) is a former professional baseball player who pitched in the Major Leagues from 1972 to 1983. Biography Dave Goltz attended high school in Rothsay, Minnesota where he was a multi-sport star athlete. Goltz signed with the Twins organization out of high school for $20,000. He began his career with the Twins in the Gulf Coast Rookie League in 1967 and moved up to single-A St. Cloud in 1968. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a helicopter mechanic and his unit was called to active duty in 1969, postponing his baseball career. He returned to the minors after his Army obligation in 1970 and hurt his arm in AA. After rehab, he spent 1971 with two single-A teams, going a combined 14–3 with Orlando and Lynchburg. George Henry Decker, Jr. (June 16, 1947 – March 2, 2003) was a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs (1969–72), Minnesota Twins (1973–76) and Seattle Mariners (1979). He was born in Storm Lake, Iowa. He was traded along with Bill Hands and minor‐league pitcher Bob Maneely by the Cubs to the Minnesota Twins for Dave LaRoche on December 1, 1972. In February 2001, Joe Decker from the United States was officially recognized as the most athletic person in the world.
