1974 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships
The 1974 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships were held in Mexico City, Mexico in neighboring Xochimilco. This marked the first time the championships took place outside Europe. , all championships have taken place either in Europe or North America. The lake was where the canoeing and rowing events took place for the 1968 Summer Olympics. Géza Csapó (29 December 1950 – 14 September 2022) was a Hungarian sprint canoeist who competed in the 1970s. Competing in two Summer Olympics, he won two medals in K-1 1000 m event with a silver in 1976 and a bronze in 1972. Jean-Paul Cézard (born January 30, 1953) is a French sports administrator and former sprint canoer who competed in the mid-1970s. Tamás Buday (born 5 July 1952) is a Canadian sprint canoe coach and retired Hungarian canoe sprinter. He competed in doubles at the 1976 and 1980 Olympics and won two bronze medals in 1976.
