1974 IAAF World Cross Country Championships – Senior Women's Race
The Senior women's race at the 1974 IAAF World Cross Country Championships was held in Monza, Italy, at the Mirabello Racecourse on March 16, 1974. World Athletics, formerly known as the International Amateur Athletic Federation (from 1912 to 2001) and International Association of Athletics Federations (from 2001 to 2019, both abbreviated as the IAAF) is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, race walking, mountain running, and ultra running. Carmen Valero Omedes (born October 4, 1955, in Castelserás, Teruel) is a former middle-distance runner from Spain, who represented her native country at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. There she was eliminated in the heats of the 800 and the 1500 metres. Valero was the only woman in the Spanish track and field squad for the Montreal Games.
