1974 FIFA World Cup Qualification – UEFA Group 5
Group 5 consisted of three of the 32 teams entered into the European zone:Only 31 of the entered teams actually competed in the qualification tournament: West Germany qualified for the World Cup automatically as host. England, Poland, and Wales. These three teams competed on a home-and-away basis for one of the 9.5 spots in the final tournament allocated to the European zone, with the group's winner claiming the place in the finals. This was the first time England failed to qualify for the World Cup since first entering in 1950. West Germany National Football Team
The Germany national football team (german: link=no, Deutsche Fußballnationalmannschaft) represents Germany in men's international football and played its first match in 1908. The team is governed by the German Football Association (''Deutscher Fußball-Bund''), founded in 1900. Between 1949 and 1990, separate German national teams were recognised by FIFA due to Allied occupation and division: the DFB's team representing the Federal Republic of Germany (commonly referred to as West Germany in English between 1949 and 1990), the Saarland team representing the Saar Protectorate (1950–1956) and the East Germany team representing the German Democratic Republic (1952–1990). Robert Gadocha
Robert Gadocha (born 10 January 1946 in Kraków) is a retired Polish soccer player, most notable for playing for Legia Warsaw. Gadocha, who started his career in Garbarnia Kraków. later also played for FC Nantes, and briefly in the United States for Chicago Sting, his last professional team. He was a member of the Poland national team that won the gold medal at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, as well as a member of the team that finished third in the 1974 FIFA World Cup in West Germany. He has a total of 16 goals in 62 games with the Poland national team. Robert Gadocha holds the record for the most assists in a single match in World Cup finals history, assisting four goals in his team's 7–0 victory against Haiti in the group stage of the 1974 World Cup.
