1972 All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship
The 1972 All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship was the 12th staging of the All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1961. THe championship ran from 16 April to 17 September 1972. Tipperary entered the championship as the defending champions. The All-Ireland final was played at St. Brendan's Park in Birr on 17 September 1972 between Tipperary and Galway, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. Tipperary won the match by 2-13 to 1-09 to claim their fourth All-Ireland title overall and a second title in succession. Noel Seymour
William Noel Seymour (born 1945) is an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with Kiladangan and was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team. Career Seymour first played hurling as a schoolboy with the North Tipperary vocational school team that won Munster and All-Ireland titles in 1962. He also played at juvenile and underage levels with the Kiladangan club. Seymour progressed to adult level and was part of the Kiladangan team that won the Tipperary JAHC title in 1971. He also won four North Tipperary IHC titles between 1966 and 1980. Seymour first appeared on the inter-county scene as a member of the Tipperary minor hurling team in 1963. He later spent two consecutive seasons with the under-21 team and was a non-playing substitute when Tipperary were beaten by Wexford in the 1964 All-Ireland under-21 final. Arravale Rovers GAA ( ga, Fánaithe Gleann Árann) is Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club in County Tipperary, Ireland. Cappoquin GAA
Affane Cappoquin GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Cappoquin, County Waterford, Ireland. The club was formed in 1969 with the merging of Affane GAA and Cappoquin GAA. At present, the team is called Cappoquin when playing hurling and Affane when playing gaelic football. Its finest hour in football came in 1974 when, having beaten Stradbally in the quarter-final and The Nire in the semi-final, Affane defeated Dunhill by 1-8 to 0-6 to win its only Waterford Senior Football Championship title. Affane went on to represent Waterford in the Munster Senior Club Football Championship, losing to Austin Stacks of Kerry. Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA
Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "North-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred on the villages of Kilruane, Ardcroney and Cloughjordan. The club was founded in 1937 and is named after Thomas MacDonagh, a signatory of the 1916 Proclamation who was born and lived in Cloughjordan. The clubhouse and playing field are located in Cloughjordan. The finest day in the club's history was in 1986 when it won the Senior Hurling Club All-Ireland title, defeating Buffers Alley of Wexford GAA in the final by 1-15 to 2-10. Newcastle West GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Newcastle West, County Limerick, Ireland. The club was founded in 1887 and fields teams in hurling and Gaelic football. History Caisleain Nua Thiar Gaa Club was founded in 1897. Its early years were lean as Newcastle West did not emerge until 1908, when it reached the Senior final with Kilmallock, losing 2-08 to 0-3. Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Munster Hurling Intermediate Championship is an annual hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1961 for the strong hurling teams in the province of Munster in Ireland. In some cases the teams consist of players who are not on the senior squads for their county (thus in effect, they are a second team), or in others of players who are from junior or intermediate clubs. The competition was established to prevent the stronger counties from dominating the Munster Junior Hurling Championship. The series of games are played during the summer months with the Munster final currently being played in July. The prize for the winning team is the Sweet Afton Cup. The championship has always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated from the series.
