1972 AFC Asian Cup
The 1972 AFC Asian Cup was the 5th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), that was hosted in Thailand . The finals were held in Thailand between 7 May and 19 May 1972. It was won by Iran. Qualification *'' qualified as hosts but later withdrew. replaced them later. Hossein Kalani ( fa, حسین کلانی; born January 23, 1945 in Tehran) is a retired Iranian football striker who played for Shahin, Persepolis, Paykan Tehran, Shahbaz and the Iran national football team. Lee Hoi-taek
Lee Hoe-taik (이회택, born 11 October 1946) is a former South Korean football player and manager. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest South Korean forwards of all time. He is also one of four players inducted into the Korean FA Hall of Fame. Early life Lee started his youth career late in high school, but showed a fast development. He was selected for the South Korea national team three years after beginning football in earnest. On 10 December 1966, Lee made his senior international debut against Thailand in the 1966 Asian Games. Club career Lee joined Yangzee, founded by the Korean Central Intelligence Agency to develop the national team. In the 1967 Pestabola Merdeka, Lee scored three goals, contributing to team's title. Ali Jabbari is an Iranian former football midfielder who played for Iran in the 1972 Summer Olympics. He also played for Taj SC. On 13 May 1972 during a group match at the 1972 AFC Asian Cup, Iran were trailing 2–0 to Thailand. Ali Jabbari turned the match around with a hat-trick in the space of 8 minutes, with goals in 80', 86' and 88', giving Iran first place in the group. Safar Iranpak (23 December 1946 – 30 January 2009) was an Iranian football striker who played for Persepolis and the Iran national football team. Early life He was born in Masjed Soleyman on 23 December 1946. He started his playing career for his hometown team Shahin Ahvaz at the age of 12. Club career He was promoted to the first team squad of Shahin Ahvaz and joined Persepolis in summer 1968. He played twelve seasons for Persepolis and is the best goalscorer at Tehran derby.
