The 1971 Pittsburgh Steelers season was the team's 39th in the National Football League. The Steelers showed improvement finishing in second Place with a 6-8 record. But Terry Bradshaw struggled with turnovers in his second season throwing 22 interceptions to 13 touchdown passes. American Football Conference Central Division
The American Football Conference – Northern Division or AFC North is one of the four divisions of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The division was adopted after the restructuring of the 2002 NFL season, when the league realigned divisions after expanding to 32 teams. This is the only division in the NFL in which no member team has hosted a Super Bowl in their stadiums. Dick Haley
George Richard Haley, Jr. (born October 2, 1937) is a former American football cornerback in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played college football at the University of Pittsburgh and was drafted in the ninth round of the 1959 NFL Draft. He was a Player Personnel analyst for the Miami Dolphins. He was Director of Player Personnel for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1971–1990 as well as the New York Jets from 1991–2007. Haley is frequently credited with selecting the Steelers' renowned 1974 NFL Draft class which included four future inductees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Indianapolis Colts are a professional American football team based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Houston Oilers
The Houston Oilers were a professional American football team that played in Houston from its founding in 1960 to 1996 before relocating to Memphis, and later Nashville, Tennessee becoming the Tennessee Titans. Charlie Sumner
Charles Edward Sumner (October 19, 1930 – April 3, 2015) was an American football player who was selected by the Chicago Bears in the 22nd round of the 1954 NFL Draft. A 6'1", 194 lbs. safety from the College of William & Mary, Sumner played in eight National Football League (NFL) seasons, from 1955 to 1962. He later was an assistant coach in the NFL for many years, including three stints with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders. Sumner's only head coaching stint was with the Oakland Invaders of the United States Football League (USFL) in 1985.
