1970–71 Cypriot Second Division
The 1970–71 Cypriot Second Division was the 16th season of the Cypriot second-level football league. APOP Paphos FC won their 2nd title. Format Twelve teams participated in the 1970–71 Cypriot Second Division. All teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. The first team was promoted to 1971–72 Cypriot First Division. The last team was relegated to the 1971–72 Cypriot Third Division. Cypriot Second Division
The Cypriot Second Division ( el, Πρωτάθλημα Β΄ Κατηγορίας) is the second highest football division of the Cypriot football league system. Administrated by the Cyprus Football Association, it is contested by 16 teams, with the top two teams being promoted to the Cypriot First Division and the last four teams being relegated to the Cypriot Third Division. History The Cypriot Second Division started unofficially the 1934–35 football season as the second level of the Cypriot football (Cyprus Football Association founded in 1934). The competition consisted of teams that didn't participate in Cypriot First Division and the reserve teams of the Cypriot First Division clubs. In the reserve teams were allowed to participate only players that had no more than three caps with their team in First Division. Aris Limassol (Greek: ''Άρης Λεμεσού'') is a Cypriot football club based in Limassol and one of the founder members of Cyprus Football Association. 1970–71 Cypriot Cup
The 1970–71 Cypriot Cup was the 29th edition of the Cypriot Cup. A total of 16 clubs entered the competition. It began on 1 May 1971 with the first round and concluded on 6 June 1971 with the replay final which was held at GSE Stadium. Anorthosis Famagusta won their 5th Cypriot Cup trophy after beating Omonia 1–0 in the replay final. Format In the 1970–71 Cypriot Cup, participated all the teams of the Cypriot First Division and 4 of 12 teams of the Cypriot Second Division (first four of the league table; cup took place after the end of the league). The competition consisted of four knock-out rounds. In all rounds each tie was played as a single leg and was held at the home ground of the one of the two teams, according to the draw results. Evagoras Paphos
Athlitikos Syllogos Evagoras Paphos () was a Cypriot football club based in the city of Paphos. Founded in 1961, was playing sometimes in First and sometimes in the Second Division. It has adopted its name from Evagoras Pallikarides, who was a hero from Paphos who was hanged by British Colonists, as he was an EOKA guerrilla, fighting for the freedom of Cyprus. The club's badge was a green shield with the figure of Evagoras Pallikarides's as a face in a circle. Othellos Athienou ( el, Οθέλλος Αθηαίνου) is a football club based in Athienou, Larnaca, Cyprus and competes in the Cypriot Second Division. The football department is the only activity of the club at the moment, which participated for the first time in the Cypriot First Division, the top football level division in Cyprus.
