1970 VFA Season
The 1970 Victorian Football Association season was the 89th season of the top division of the Australian rules football competition, and the tenth season of second division competition. The Division 1 premiership was won by the Prahran Football Club, marking the club's third Division 1 premiership; it defeated Williamstown, which qualified for the Grand Final in its first season after promotion to Division 1, on 20 September by 50 points. The Division 2 premiership was won by Coburg, in its second season since being relegated from Division 1. Division 1 The Division 1 home-and-home season was played over 18 rounds; the top four then contested the finals under the Page–McIntyre system. Prahran Football Club
Prahran Assumption Football Club (), nicknamed The Two Blues, is an Australian rules football club based at Toorak Park in Orrong Road between High Street and Malvern Road, Armadale, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The club is currently in Division 1 of the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). The nickname ''Two Blues'' comes from the club uniform which has been royal blue and sky blue since the club formed in 1886. Teams Prahran fields Senior, Reserves, Club XVIII and junior teams. The senior team was coached in 2006 by Leigh Stafford, who resigned from the coaching role at the end of the season. Yarraville Football Club
Yarraville Football Club was an Australian rules football club founded in 1903 and played in the VJFA until 1927. In 1928, the club joined the Victorian Football Association where it played until 1984 when the club went into recess. In 1996, the Kingsville Football Club in the Western Region Football League who by this time had taken over the Yarraville ground changed their name to Yarraville. In 2007 the Yarraville Football Club merged with the Seddon Football Club to become the Yarraville Seddon Eagles. History The VJFA years (1903–1927) Yarraville Football Club was formed on April 1, 1903. It then joined the Victorian Junior Football Association, where it was highly successful. Between 1905 and 1913, the club missed the Grand Final only once, and won a total of four premierships: in 1905, 1908, 1909 and 1912. Mordialloc Football Club
Mordialloc Football Netball Club, nicknamed The Bloodhounds, is an Australian rules football and netball club that currently participates in the Southern Football Netball League. Mordialloc also played in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) from 1958 until 1988. History The club is based in the Melbourne suburb of Mordialloc and started out in the Federal Football Association. They played in the FFA from 1909 to 1957 and were premiers on seven occasions - 1923, 1924, 1929, 1939, 1950, 1951 & 1952. Since 1927, the club has played at Ben Kavanagh Reserve in McDonald St, Mordialloc, a ground which is notable for its long length & similar size playing area as the MCG.
