Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships
The Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships are the world championships for the sport of rhythmic gymnastics. The tournament is promoted and organized by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG). It is one of the three tournaments in rhythmic gymnastics officially organized by FIG, as well as the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup and the gymnastics competitions at the Olympic Games (in collaboration with the IOC and the federation of the country organising the Games). The first edition of the World Championships was held in 1963, a time when the sport was known as modern gymnastics. The current program of the World Championships contemplates both individual and group performances. In even non-Olympic years and the year before the Olympics, a team event is also contested. Dorota Trafankowska
Dorota Trafankowska (born 28 July 1953) is a Polish retired gymnast. She was national champion in 1971. Career Dorota was born in Poznan in the family of Miroslav Trabankovsky. She was a pupil of the Poznan rhythmic gymnastics school founded by Vanda Skrzydlevskaya in 1963. In the 70s–80s it was the best gymnastics school in the country, its representatives won the national championships almost continuously (until the victory of Travankovski won, then Grazyna Boyarskaya, and then Jadwig Hammering and Lucin Cervinskaya). At the 1969 World Championships in Varna, Travankovskaya took the 28th place in the individual All-Around, 11 places behind Boyarskaya and not much ahead of Alina Bosko. Liubov Sereda
Liubov Paradieva Sereda (Russian: Любовь Парадиева Середа; born in 1945) is a retired Soviet rhythmic gymnast. She is a two time (1969, 1967) World All-around silver medalist. Biography Sereda was born in Grozny, Republic of Chechnya. As a child she wanted to be a ballerina, she started gymnastics at age 10. She and her coach Silaeva later moved to Kyiv to train in rhythmic gymnastics. She was a four time USSR Cup champion. Sereda competed in her first World championship at the 1967 Worlds in Copenhagen, Denmark. Neshka Stefanova Robeva ( bg, Нешка Стефанова Робева; born 26 May 1946) is a Bulgarian former Rhythmic Gymnast and coach. Biography Born in Rousse, Robeva graduated from the Bulgarian State Choreography School in "Bulgarian Dances" in 1966 and since then had been a member of the Bulgarian national rhythmic gymnastics squad until 1973. She took part in four World Championships. (1967, 1969, 1971, 1973) In 1974 Robeva graduated from the High Institute for Sports (now National Sports Academy) and started work as a coach at the "Levski-Spartak" club. Maria Gigova ( bg, Мария Гигова; born 24 April 1947) is a Bulgarian rhythmic gymnast. She is a three-time (1969, 1971, 1973) World All-around champion. Biography She was the first gymnast to become a triple world champion in rhythmic gymnastics with her titles in 1969, 1971, and 1973. Gigova has a total of four gold medals in hoop (1967, 1969, 1971 and 1973), an achievement still unmatched by any other gymnast, as well as one title in rope (1971) and free exercise (1969). As a member of the Bulgarian Team, she also earned team titles at the rhythmic gymnastics world championships in 1969 and 1971.
