1968 Rose Bowl
The 1968 Rose Bowl was the 54th edition of the college football bowl game, played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on Monday, January 1. The USC Trojans of the Pacific-8 Conference defeated the Indiana Hoosiers of the Big Ten Conference, 14–3. USC tailback O. J. Simpson was named the Player of the Game. Teams Through , this remains the only Rose Bowl appearance for Indiana. USC was a two touchdown favorite; this was the first Rose Bowl in fifteen years in which the West Coast team was favored. In the intervening fourteen games, the Big Ten had won ten and lost four (1960, 1961, 1963, 1966). Indiana Hoosiers Football
The Indiana Hoosiers football program represents Indiana University Bloomington in NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision college football and in the Big Ten Conference. The Hoosiers have played their home games at Memorial Stadium since 1960. The team has won the Big Ten Championship twice, once in 1945 and again in 1967. The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), founded in 1938, is the governing association of community college, state college and junior college athletics throughout the United States. The 1967 Syracuse Orangemen football team represented Syracuse University during the 1967 NCAA University Division football season. The Orangemen were led by 19th-year head coach Ben Schwartzwalder and played their home games at Archbold Stadium in Syracuse, New York. The 1967 Washington Huskies football team was an American football team that represented the University of Washington during the 1967 NCAA University Division football season. In its eleventh season under head coach Jim Owens, the team compiled a 5–5 record, tied for fourth place in the Athletic Association of Western Universities (Pac-8), and outscored its opponents 136 to 130. Washington won only two of its six home games; the notable victory was over the "Giant Killers" of Oregon State in the conference opener. The Victory Bell is the trophy that is awarded to the winner of the UCLA–USC football rivalry game. The game is an American college football rivalry between the UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans, part of the overall UCLA–USC rivalry. The Victory Bell is a brass bell that originally rang atop a Southern Pacific railroad locomotive. It is currently mounted on a special wheeled carriage.
