1967–68 DDR-Oberliga
The 1967–68 DDR-Oberliga was the 19th season of the DDR-Oberliga, the first tier of league football in East Germany. The league was contested by fourteen teams. FC Carl Zeiss Jena won the championship, the club's second of three East German championships, having previously won the 1962–63 edition under the name of SC Motor Jena. Gerd Kostmann of F.C. Hansa Rostock was the league's top scorer with 15 goals, while Bernd Bransch of Hallescher FC Chemie won the seasons East German Footballer of the year award. On the strength of the 1967–68 title Jena qualified for the 1968–69 European Cup where the club was drawn against Red Star Belgrade in the first round but withdrew after a redraw following the events of the Prague Spring. DDR-Oberliga
The DDR-Oberliga (English: ''East German Premier League'' or ''GDR Premier League'') was the top-level association football league in East Germany. Overview Following World War II, separate sports competitions emerged in the occupied eastern and western halves of Germany, replacing the ''Gauligas'' of the Nazi era. In East Germany, a top-flight football competition, the highest league in the East German football league system, was established in 1949 as the DS-Oberliga (''Deutscher Sportausschuss Oberliga'', German Sports Association Upper League). FC Sachsen Leipzig was a German football club from the Leutzsch district of Leipzig, Saxony. The club continued the traditions of BSG Chemie Leipzig. The club officially dissolved in 2011. Fußball Club Erzgebirge Aue e.V., commonly known as simply FC Erzgebirge Aue or Erzgebirge Aue (), is a Football in Germany, German football club based in Aue-Bad Schlema, Saxony. HQM Sachsenring GmbH is a Zwickau-based company that supplies chassis and body parts to the automotive industry. The company was named after the Sachsenring race track. Founded as VEB Sachsenring after the end of World War II, Sachsenring was one of the few manufacturers of vehicles in East Germany, its best known product being the Trabant, produced between 1957 and 1991. Following the reunification of Germany in 1990, Sachsenring transitioned from a government-owned company under a centrally-planned economy to a private corporation in a free market economy. The Sachsenring () is a motorsport racing circuit located in Hohenstein-Ernstthal near Chemnitz in Saxony, Germany. Among other events, it features the annual German motorcycle Grand Prix of the FIM Grand Prix motorcycle racing world championship.
