Doug Scovil
Douglas Henry Scovil (July 1, 1927 – December 9, 1989) was an American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California from 1966 to 1969 and at San Diego State University from 1981 to 1985, compiling a career college football record of 45–51–3. Following his stint as head coach for the San Diego State Aztecs, Scovil worked as the quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL), where he was credited with developing Randall Cunningham, until his death from a heart attack at Veterans Stadium during the 1989 season. In memory of Scovil's passing, the Eagles marked their helmets with black electrical tape for the rest of the season. The 1967 Utah State Aggies football team was an American football team that represented Utah State University as an independent during the 1967 NCAA University Division football season. In their first season under head coach Chuck Mills, the Aggies compiled a 7–2–1 record and outscored their opponents 205 to 143. The 1968 NFL season, 1968 season was the Minnesota Vikings' eighth in the National Football League. Under head coach Bud Grant, the Vikings won the NFC North, NFL Central division title with an 8–6 record, and qualified for the postseason for the first time in franchise history. Bob Lee (quarterback)
Robert Melville Lee (born August 7, 1946) is a former professional American football quarterback and punter. He played college football for Arizona State University and the University of the Pacific. He was selected 441st overall in the 1968 NFL/AFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings. He was nicknamed "General" Bob Lee during his brief period of success with the Atlanta Falcons. After his stint with the Falcons he rejoined the Vikings before ending his fourteen year career with the Los Angeles Rams. Early life Lee was born in Columbus, Ohio. The Philadelphia Eagles season was the franchise's 36th season in the National Football League (NFL). They failed to improve on their previous output of 6–7–1, winning only two games. 1968 NFL/AFL Draft
The 1968 National Football League draft was part of the common draft, in the second year in which the NFL and AFL held a joint draft of college players. It took place at the Belmont Plaza Hotel in New York City on January 30–31, 1968. The Minnesota Vikings acquired the first overall pick in the draft through a trade with the New York Giants in March 1967 for quarterback Fran Tarkenton. When establishing the common draft between the NFL and AFL, the Giants were able to negotiate that they would receive the option to pick first in either the 1967 or 1968 NFL/AFL drafts, regardless of the presence of an expansion team or their own record from the previous season.
