1967 PGA Tour Qualifying School Graduates
This is a list of the 1967 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. Tournament summary The tournament was played over 144 holes at the PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in mid-October. The field of 111 was considered to have a number of "star" amateur golfers. These included Deane Beman, Bob Murphy, Ron Cerrudo, Marty Fleckman, and Bunky Henry. In addition, the field included Lee Elder, "whom many are predicting will be the first top-ranking Negro player." A number of notable international golfers played. These included the top three golfers from Britain: Tony Jacklin, Peter Townsend, and Clive Clark. Jacklin and Townsend earned playing privileges. Burmese golfer Mya Aye tried out for the tour at the tournament. PGA National Resort And Spa
PGA National Resort is a resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. It has five championship 18-hole golf courses, the most famous of which is "The Champion", which has hosted the 1983 Ryder Cup, the 1987 PGA Championship, the Senior PGA Championship for 19 consecutive years from 1982 to 2000, and the PGA Tour's Honda Classic since 2007. It has been home to the Professional Golfers' Association of America since the resort's establishment, but the PGA has announced that it will move to new headquarters in Texas in summer 2022. The resort also includes 339 hotel rooms, nine restaurants and lounges, a 34,000-square-foot conference wing, a 40,000-square-foot spa, 33,000-square-foot health and racquet club with 19 tennis courts, a golf academy, and a members club. Gibby Gilbert
C.L. "Gibby" Gilbert II (born January 14, 1941) is an American professional golfer who has won tournaments on both the PGA Tour and Champions Tour. Gilbert was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and still makes his home there with his wife Judy. His father started him in golf at the age of 13. He attended the University of Chattanooga. He turned pro in 1965 and joined the PGA Tour in 1967. Gilbert played on the PGA Tour for three years during the 1960s but did not have much success. In 1966 he took a job at Hillcrest Country Club in Hollywood, Florida in late 1969 he began working there permanently as assistant professional. Gilbert had dozens of top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour and three victories. His first win came at the 1970 Houston Champions International, his second win was at the 1976 Danny Thomas Memphis Classic and his third win was at the 1977 Walt Disney World National Team Championship. The Canadian Amateur Championship, begun in 1895, is the men's amateur golf championship of Canada. It is staged annually by Golf Canada. KPGA Championship
The KPGA Championship is a men's professional golf tournament that has been held annually in South Korea since 1958. Together with the Korea Open it is the longest running event on the Korean Tour. It is organised by the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA). Since 2016 the total purse has been KRW1,000,000,000 with KRW200,000,000 to the winner. Korea Open (golf)
The Kolon Korea Open, as it is currently known for sponsorship reasons, is a men's professional golf tournament that has been held annually in South Korea since 1958. The Korea Open was an event on the Asia Golf Circuit from 1970 until 1981. The Maekyung Open was founded in 1982 to replace it on the circuit, which allowed rescheduling of the Korea Open to later in the year. It became a stop on the Asian Tour from 1998 to 2008, except for 2005, and then part of the OneAsia Tour schedule from 2009 to 2017, before returning to the Asian Tour in 2018. In 2019, the total purse is KRW1,200,000,000 with KRW300,000,000 to the winner. The event has been played at Woo Jeong Hills since 2003. Orville Moody
Orville James Moody (December 9, 1933 – August 8, 2008) was an American professional golfer who won numerous tournaments in his career. He won the U.S. Open in 1969, the last champion in the 20th century to win through local and sectional qualifying. Early life Born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Moody was the youngest of ten children. The son of a golf course superintendent, he began his career at Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, winning the 1952 state high school golf championship. After attempting college for a few weeks at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Moody joined the U.S. Army. He was able to continue playing golf while in uniform, winning the All-Service championship and three Korea Opens. He spent fourteen years in the Army, heading up maintenance supervision and instruction at all Army golf courses. The Dutch Open is an annual golf tournament played in the Netherlands, and has been part of the European Tour's schedule since the Tour was inaugurated in 1972. British Masters
The Betfred British Masters is a professional golf tournament. It was founded in 1946 as the Dunlop Masters and was held every year up to 2008, except for 1984. Dunlop's sponsorship ended in 1982, and the name sponsor changed frequently thereafter, with the words "British Masters" usually also in the tournament's official name. The tournament was not held from 2009 to 2014 but returned to the schedule in 2015. History The Dunlop Masters was first held in 1946 at Stoneham Golf Club in Southampton, and was a continuation of the Dunlop-Metropolitan Tournament which had been held before World War II.
