1966 NCAA University Division Men's Ice Hockey Tournament
The 1966 NCAA Men's University Division Ice Hockey Tournament was the culmination of the 1965–66 NCAA University Division men's ice hockey season, the 19th such tournament in NCAA history. It was held between March 17 and 19, 1966, and concluded with Michigan State defeating Clarkson 6–1. All games were played at the Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Qualifying teams Four teams qualified for the tournament, two each from the eastern and western regions. The ECAC tournament champion and the two WCHA tournament co-champions received automatic bids into the tournament. An at-large bid was offered to a second eastern team based upon both their ECAC tournament finish as well as their regular season record. Williams Arena
Williams Arena is an indoor arena located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is the home arena for the University of Minnesota's men's and women's basketball teams. It also housed the men's hockey team until 1993, when it moved into its own building, 3M Arena at Mariucci. The building is known as "The Barn", and its student section is known as "The Barnyard". Williams Arena is located on the southwest corner of the intersection of University Avenue and 19th Ave. SE in Minneapolis on the U of M's East Bank campus. Douglas French (born 26 January 1935) is an English former professional snooker player. Career French was born in Liverpool, on 26 January 1935. He started playing snooker aged 15, at the Wavertree Labour Club. As an amateur, he won numerous titles, including the Butlins National Championship in 1965 and the Pontins National championship in 1970. List Of NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey All-Tournament Teams
NCAA All-Tournament team is an honor bestowed at the conclusion of the NCAA Division I ice hockey tournament to the players judged to have performed the best during the championship. The team is currently composed of three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender with additional players named in the event of a tie. Voting for the honor was conducted by the head coaches of each member team once the tournament has completed and any player regardless of their team's finish is eligible. The All-Tournament Team began being awarded after the first championship in 1948 along with an All-Tournament Second-Team. The second team was dropped after the 1969 tournament and it has remained a single team ever since except for 1976 when no team was selected. In recent years the regional tournaments have begun to name all-tournament teams of their own, making the NCAA All-Tournament team draw only from the teams and performances in the Frozen Four. Terry Yurkiewicz
Terrance A. Yurkiewicz was a Canadian ice hockey goaltender who was a two-time All-American for Clarkson. Career Yurkiewicz joined the varsity team at Clarkson University in 1963 but a broken finger curtailed his first season. After he recovered he became the starting goaltender and led Clarkson to a third-place finish in ECAC Hockey. He was named to both the All-American and Second Team All-ECAC rosters. Clarkson finished the ECAC Tournament in fourth place and, despite the disappointing result, Yurkiewicz was named as the best goaltender of the tournament. He was named as an alternate captain for his senior season and Yurkiewicz led Clarkson to one of the best seasons in program history. The team finished atop the conference standings, winning the first ECAC title in program history.
