1966 Dallas Cowboys Season
The 1966 Dallas Cowboys season was the seventh for the franchise in the National Football League. This was the first of six consecutive division titles for the Cowboys. They finished the regular season at 10–3–1, their first winning record as a franchise and first Eastern Conference title. They hosted the NFL Championship Game at the Cotton Bowl, but lost to the defending champion Green Bay Packers, who went on to win the first Super Bowl two weeks later. Quarterback Don Meredith had the best season of his career throwing for 2,805 yards, 24 touchdowns (both career highs) and 12 interceptions. Walt Garrison
Walter Benton Garrison (born July 23, 1944) is a former American football fullback in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at Oklahoma State University. Early years Born in Denton, Texas, Garrison attended nearby Lewisville High School. He played as a linebacker in football. He also played basketball and baseball. Garrison accepted a football scholarship from Oklahoma State University, with the intention of playing defense as a linebacker. He started school in the fall of 1962 and played linebacker in the only two games the freshmen team played that year (Arkansas in Stillwater and Oklahoma in Norman). In the spring of 1963 Phil Cutchin became the new head coach, and even though he didn't play the position in high school, Cutchin moved Garrison to running back in the spring. The 1965 Tennessee Volunteers football team (variously "Tennessee", "UT" or the "Vols") represented the University of Tennessee in the 1965 NCAA University Division football season. Playing as a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the team was led by head coach Doug Dickey, in his second year, and played their home games at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee. The tight end (TE) is a position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football, on the offense. The tight end is often a hybrid position with the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a wide receiver. Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. On the other hand, unlike offensive linemen, they are eligible receivers adept enough to warrant a defense's attention when running pass patterns. Austin Denney
Austin Cheek Denney Jr. (January 2, 1944 – January 20, 2009) was an American football tight end in the National Football League for the Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills. He played college football at the University of Tennessee. Early years Denney attended Donelson High School, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He accepted a football scholarship from the University of Tennessee. As a junior, he was moved from fullback to tight end, becoming a starter, while posting 14 receptions for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns. As a senior, he posted 21 receptions for 264 yards and 7 receiving touchdowns (school record for tight ends).
