1965–66 Iraq Central FA Premier League
The 1965–66 Iraq Central FA Premier League was the 18th season of the Iraq Central FA Premier League (the top division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities from 1948 to 1973), and the first under the name of ''Premier League''. It kicked off on 15 October 1965 with its last match being held on 2 June 1966. Al-Firqa Al-Thalitha became champions for the first time with a two-point lead over Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and a realistically unassailable superior goal average. On 11 July 1966, the Iraq Central Football Association decided to end the league with two matches left to play following a meeting with clubs two days earlier. This was the first season that featured a double round-robin format where each team was scheduled to play all the other teams in the league twice, once home and once away. Iraq Central FA Premier League
The Iraq Central FA Premier League, also known as the Iraq Central FA First Division and previously named the Iraq FA Baghdad First Division ( ar, دوري الاتحاد العراقي لمنطقة بغداد), was the top-level division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities between 1948 and 1973. It was controlled by the Iraq Football Association, Iraq Central Football Association and was played under a variety of different formats including a Double-elimination tournament, double-elimination format, a Round-robin tournament, round-robin format and a double round-robin format. It was one of several regional league championships played in Iraq at the time, with others including the Iraq FA Basra Premier League, Basra, Iraq FA Kirkuk Premier League, Kirkuk and Mosul leagues. Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya
Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya ( ar, فريق الكلية العسكرية, lit=''Military College''), known up until 1958 as Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya Al-Malakiya, was an Iraqi football team founded in 1937 in Baghdad. They were the runners-up of Iraq's first ever national cup when they lost the final of the 1948–49 Iraq FA Cup to Sharikat Naft Al-Basra. They were also the first ever winners of the Iraq Central FA League, a regional league for teams from Baghdad and its neighbouring cities, when they earned the title in 1948–49. Their final season in the top-flight was 1969–70 when they were relegated to the region's second-tier. Aliyat Al-Shorta Sport Club ( ar, نادي آليات الشرطة الرياضي, lit=''Police Machinery Sport Club'') is an Iraqi sports club based in Baghdad. Its football team plays in the Iraq Division Two. The 1966 Iraq Central FA Perseverance Cup was the 5th and final edition of the Iraq Central FA Perseverance Cup. The match was contested between the winners and runners-up of the 1965–66 edition of the Iraq Central FA Premier League, Al-Firqa Al-Thalitha and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya respectively. Quwat Salahaddin ( ar, قوات صلاح الدين, lit=''Salahaddin Forces'') was an Iraqi football team based in Habbaniyah which competed in the Iraq Central FA League from the 1962–63 season until the 1972–73 season.
