The Dutch Eerste Divisie in the 1965–66 season was contested by 15 teams, one less than in the previous year. This was due to the merger of Enschedese Boys with eredivisie-club SC Enschede, to form FC Twente. Sittardia won the championship. Eerste Divisie
The Eerste Divisie (, en, First Division) is the second-highest tier of football in the Netherlands. It is linked with the top-level Eredivisie and with the third-level Tweede Divisie via promotion/relegation systems. It is also known as the Keuken Kampioen Divisie due to sponsorship, while previously it was known as Jupiler League for the same reason. History The Eerste Divisie consists of 20 clubs, who play each other in a double round-robin league, with each club playing the other club home and away. Each club plays every other club once in the first half of the season before the league takes a winter break around the Christmas and New Year's holiday season. The second half of the season sees the same fixtures as the first half, with the stadiums changed, although the two halves are not played in the same order. FC Volendam
Football Club Volendam () is a professional Association football, football club based in Volendam, Netherlands. They play in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football league system, Dutch football from the 2022–23 season following promotion. The Dutch Tweede Divisie in the 1965–66 season was contested by 30 teams, divided in two groups. It would be the last season the Tweede Divisie would be divided in two. From next season onwards, all teams would participate in one league. This also meant that more teams than before were promoted to the Eerste Divisie. No teams had to relegate to amateur football. Blauw-Wit Amsterdam
FC Blauw-Wit Amsterdam ( en, Blue-White) was a Dutch football club from Amsterdam. The name referred to the colours of their uniform, blue and white. History Founded on 10 May 1902 as a local club in the Kinkerbuurt area of Amsterdam, from 1928 it started to play its home matches in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. The club entered professional football in the Netherlands in 1954. In 1972 the club merged with Volewijckers and DWS to form FC Amsterdam. Blauw-Wit continued as an amateur club, that still exists today. Originally named ''VICTORIA!'' the club merged with another neighborhood club ''Holland'' from which point the combined clubs took on the name Blauw-Wit and were permitted into the Derde Klasse by the NVB. RBC, commonly known under its previous official name RBC Roosendaal, is a football club based in Roosendaal, Netherlands. RBC currently plays in the seventh-tier Tweede Klasse after a bankruptcy in 2011, restarting the club in tenth tier Vijfde Klasse. ASC De Volewijckers is a Dutch football club that plays in the Vierde Klasse. It is a continuation of ASV–DWV and AVV De Volewijckers. History ASV–DWV ASV-DWV or Door Wilskracht Verkregen was founded on 12 May 1912 in present-day Amsterdam-Noord. Its home ground was Sportpark Elzenhagen. ASV-DWV was promoted to first class, the highest amateur football level in the 1913–14 season. As a result of a flood disaster in 1916, the entire accommodation was destroyed. In 1921 the club started again but now in the third class of the Dutch soccer association (KNVB). In the years 1935, '36 and '37 the club promoted from the third class and second class to the first class again. Alles Door Oefening Den Haag (), commonly known by the abbreviated name ADO Den Haag (), is a Dutch association football club from the city of The Hague. SC Cambuur, also known as Cambuur Leeuwarden, or simply Cambuur, () is a Dutch football club from the city of Leeuwarden formed on 19 June 1964.
