The 6th Spring Trophy, was a non-championship race for Formula Two cars. It was held on the Oulton Park circuit, located near Tarporley, Cheshire, England, on 3 April 1965. Report Entry A total of 32 F2 cars were entered for the event. However, only 21 took part in qualifying. Qualifying Richard Attwood took pole position for Midland Racing Partnership, in their Lola-Cosworth T60, averaging a speed of . Race The race was held over 40 laps of the Oulton Park circuit. Denny Hulme took the winner's spoils for the works Brabham team, driving their Brabham-Cosworth BT16. Hulme won in a time of 1hr 08:39.6mins., averaging a speed of . Mike Beckwith
Michael Geoffrey Beckwith (born 15 March 1935) is a British former racing driver from England who competed in various classes in the 1960s and 1970s including non-championship Formula One and the Le Mans 24-hour race. Early life Beckwith was born in Hendon, North London. Career Early years (1962–1965) Beckwith began his racing career in 1961, competing in two races with a Lotus 11. His best finish was fourth, in his first race, at Goodwood, in March. 1962 was Beckwith's first full season of racing. Using a Lotus 23, entered by Normand, a motor dealership for whom he worked, he achieved 6 victories and 6 other podium finishes out of 15 starts. Ian Raby
Ian Ewart Raby (22 September 1921 in Woolwich, London – 7 November 1967 in Lambeth) was a British racing driver from England. He participated in 7 World Championship Formula One Grands Prix, debuting on 20 July 1963 in the British Grand Prix, where he retired on Lap 60. He scored no championship points. He was a garage-owner in Brighton, Sussex trading as Empire Cars Ltd. As a privateer he came to Formula One late in life. Raby started racing about 1953 and drove an assortment of cars, many with the name "puddle jumper" written on the side. He is remembered for the I.E.R. Midget F3 car of 1954. Chris Amon
Christopher Arthur Amon (20 July 1943 – 3 August 2016) was a New Zealand motor racing driver. He was active in Formula One racing in the 1960s and 1970s, and is widely regarded as one of the best F1 drivers never to win a championship Grand Prix. His reputation for bad luck was such that fellow driver Mario Andretti once joked that "if he became an undertaker, people would stop dying". Former Ferrari Technical Director Mauro Forghieri stated that Amon was "by far the best test driver I have ever worked with. Peter Jeffrey Revson (February 27, 1939 – March 22, 1974) was an American race car driver and heir to the Revlon cosmetics fortune. He was a two-time Formula One race winner and had success at the Indianapolis 500. Lotus 32
The Lotus 32 was a Formula 2 racing car built by Team Lotus in 1964. It was developed from the Lotus 27 Formula Junior model. Twelve cars were produced, four of which were run by Ron Harris Team Lotus, whose drivers included Jim Clark and Mike Spence. Spence won the 1964 Autocar British Formula 2 Championship while Clark was fourth in the Trophées de France Championship. Development The chassis of the Lotus 32 was an aluminium monocoque with steel front and rear bulkhead and centre section to bring it up to weight. Suspension followed the usual Lotus practice; coil spring/damper units were mounted inboard at the front and outboard at the rear. William Warren Bradley (born July 28, 1943) is an American politician and former professional basketball player. He served three terms as a Democratic U.S. senator from New Jersey (1979–1997). Colchester Racing Developments produced Merlyn racing cars from 1960 to 1979. The company was founded by Clive Maskrey, Selwyn Hayward and continued by Hayward's brother, Clive. When the manufacture of Merlyn racing cars stopped, Clive Hayward continued to manufacture Merlyn parts as CRD Tool and Engineering Ltd. Chris Irwin
Chris Irwin (born 27 June 1942 in Wandsworth, London) is a British former racing driver. He participated in 10 Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, debuting on 16 July 1966. He scored two championship points. Irwin's career was ended prematurely by an accident he sustained when driving a Ford P68 sports prototype during practice for the 1968 1000km Nürburgring endurance race. He lost control of the notoriously twitchy car at the Flugplatz, the P68 flipping end over end after landing on its tail following a jump. He suffered severe head injuries but eventually recovered.
