Robert Leith "Dinny" Hanbidge (16 March 1891 – 25 July 1974) was a Canadian lawyer, municipal, provincial and federal politician, and the List of lieutenant governors of Saskatchewan, 12th Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, Lieutenant-Governor of Saskatchewan. Early life Born in Southampton, Ontario, the son of Robert and Fanny (Murton) Hanbidge, he graduated from the Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute in 1909 and moved to Regina, Saskatchewan where he took the Saskatchewan Law Society law course. He articled in the law firm of Sir Frederick Haultain, former List of premiers of the Northwest Territories, Premier of the North-West Territories, and became a member of the Saskatchewan Law Society in 1915. He was appointed a King's Counsel in 1933. In 1915, he married Jane Mitchell. His son, Robert Donald Keith Hanbidge, a Flying Officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force, was killed during World War II. Paul Comtois
Paul Comtois, (August 22, 1895 – February 21, 1966) was a Canadian politician. Born in Pierreville, Quebec, the son of Urbain Comtois and Elizabeth McCaffrey, he ran unsuccessfully for the House of Commons of Canada in the 1930 federal election and in a 1933 by-election. He was elected in 1957 election for the riding of Nicolet—Yamaska. A Progressive Conservative, he was re-elected in the 1958 election. From 1957 to 1961, he was the Minister of Mines and Technical Surveys. In 1961, he was appointed the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Quebec. He served until 1966, when he was killed in a fire that destroyed his official residence. William Earl Rowe
William Earl Rowe, (May 13, 1894 – February 9, 1984), was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He served as the 20th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario from 1963 to 1968. Background Rowe was born in Hull, Iowa, United States, of Canadian parents in 1894. He moved to Ontario with his family at the age of two and grew up to become a farmer and cattle breeder. In 1917, he married Treva Alda Lillian Lennox. Together, they had four children, one of which died during labour. Politics He was reeve of the township of West Gwillimbury from 1919 to 1923. Rowe served as a Member of Provincial Parliament from 1923 to 1925, when elected to the House of Commons, where he served until 1935. From 1936 to 1938, he was leader of Conservative Party of Ontario, but he did not have a seat in the legislature and so George S. Henry remained Leader of the Opposition. Henry Poole MacKeen, SM, CD, QC (June 17, 1892 – April 20, 1971) was a Canadian lawyer and the 23rd Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia from 1963 to 1968. Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, the son of former Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia David MacKeen, he served during World War I as an artillery officer, reaching the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and was wounded in 1916. After the war, he received his LL.B in 1921 from Dalhousie University. He was a practicing lawyer and served during World War II as the commanding officer of the Halifax Rifles 2nd Battalion from 1945 to 1946. He was also the Honorary Lieutenant Colonel from 1948 to 1960. He helped to defend Kurt Meyer, Canada's only jailed war criminal. In 1933 he was appointed a King's Council by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. He was appointed Lieutenant Governor in 1963 and served until 1968.
