1964 Philadelphia Eagles Season
The 1964 Philadelphia Eagles season was the franchise's 32nd season in the National Football League. Offseason Joe Kuharich is hired as Head Coach after he leaves Notre Dame. He is still their only head coach with a lifetime losing record while coaching there, going 17–23 in 4 years. Owner Jerry Wolman give Kuharich an unheard of contract of $1 million over 15 years. He then trades future Hall of Famers Sonny Jurgensen to the Washington Redskins and Tommy McDonald to the Dallas Cowboys. Earl Gros and Pro Bowler and Hall of Fame member Jim Ringo are acquired reportedly when he tried to have an agent talk for him during Ringo's 1964 contract talks with Green Bay. Robert Stanford Brown (born December 8, 1941), nicknamed "The Boomer" is a former American football offensive tackle in the National Football League from 1964 through 1973. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles as the second overall pick in the 1964 NFL draft. He played for the Eagles from 1964 to 1968, the Los Angeles Rams from 1969 to 1970, and the Oakland Raiders from 1971 to 1973. He played college football at Nebraska. Howard Kindig
Howard Wayne Kindig, Jr. (born June 22, 1941) is a former American football defensive end who played ten seasons in the American Football League and the National Football League, mainly with the Buffalo Bills. Kindig started his NFL career as a defensive end with the San Diego Chargers in 1965. After 3 seasons with San Diego he moved to the Bills, where he played defensive end, offensive tackle and center. Kindig decided to retire after the 1971 season with the Bills, but the Miami Dolphins traded for his rights in exchange for defensive tackle Frank Cornish and a conditional draft pick. Kindig was able to make the Dolphins 1972 team after Jim Langer beat out Miami's 1971 starting center Bob DeMarco for the 1972 starting center position and DeMarco did not want to serve as the backup, opening a spot for Kindig. Robert Chadwick Berry (born March 10, 1942) is a former American football player, a quarterback in the National Football League for twelve seasons. He was selected to one Pro Bowl in 1969 as a member of the Atlanta Falcons. Berry was a member of three Super Bowl teams with the Minnesota Vikings in the mid-1970s. College career Born and raised in San Jose, California, Berry played football at Willow Glen High School, where his father was a longtime head coach. He graduated in 1960 and played college football at Oregon, where he was a three-year letter winner under head coach Len Casanova. Alfred Freddie "Al" Denson (born January 2, 1942) is a former American football wide receiver who played collegiately at Florida A&M University, and professionally for eight seasons, for the Denver Broncos of the American Football League (AFL), and the National Football League's Broncos and Minnesota Vikings. He was drafted by the Broncos in the sixth round of the 1964 AFL Draft and by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round of the 1964 NFL Draft, but chose to sign with Denver. Denison made limited starts in his first two seasons, combining for 485 yards in nine games over those seasons with one touchdown. In 1966, he showed promise with 36 catches for 725 yards with three touchdowns in his first full year. The following year, he led the league in touchdowns with 11 on 46 receptions for 899 yards.
