The Brandon Wheat Kings won for the third year in a row, and fourth in five years. The win on March 8, 1964, in Fort Frances was the first time the Wheat Kings won the Turnbull Memorial Trophy not playing on home ice. League notes The MJHL expands to Fort Frances, with the Fort Frances Royals joining the league. Regular season All-Star game The SJHL click for three unanswered goals in the third period, two within 25 seconds, to beat the MJHL 5-2 in the 3rd annual Manitoba - Saskatchewan all-star game was played in Brandon on February 3. Ron Boehm, Fran Huck, Gary Holland, Wayne Doll, and Larry Mickey scored for Saskatchewan, who with the win, retain the Charlie Gardner Memorial Trophy. Replying for the Manitoba were Jim Irving and Felix LaVallee. Fort Frances
Fort Frances is a town in, and the seat of, Rainy River District in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. The population as of the 2016 census was 7,739. Fort Frances is a popular fishing destination. It hosts the annual Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship. Located on the international border with the United States where Rainy Lake narrows to become Rainy River, it is connected to International Falls, Minnesota by the Fort Frances–International Falls International Bridge. The town is the fourth-largest community in Northwestern Ontario after Thunder Bay, Kenora and Dryden. The Fort Frances Paper Mill was formerly the main employer and industry in the town until its closure in January 2014. New Gold, a Canadian mining company, acquired mineral rights to the area in 2013. Edward Amos "Ted" Irvine (born December 8, 1944) is a Canadian former professional National Hockey League, NHL ice hockey, hockey player who was active during the 1960s and 1970s. Career Irvine was a Winger (ice hockey), left winger. He amassed a total of 331 points in 774 games played over a 15-year professional career. In his NHL career, Irvine played for the Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, and St. Louis Blues between 1963–64 NHL season, 1963 and 1976–77 NHL season, 1977. Alton White
Alton White (born May 31, 1945) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played three seasons in the World Hockey Association with the New York Raiders, Los Angeles Sharks, and the Michigan Stags/Baltimore Blades. Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, White is best known for being the second player of African descent, after Willie O'Ree, to have played on a professional major league ice hockey team and for being the first hockey player of African descent to score 20 goals in a single season for a major league team. Daniel Douglas Johnson (October 1, 1944 – March 6, 1993) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who spent three seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) and another three seasons in the World Hockey Association (WHA) during the 1970s. He was a member of the Vancouver Canucks' inaugural NHL team in 1970. Playing career Johnson was signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs following his junior career and spent five seasons with their Central Hockey League (CHL) affiliate, the Tulsa Oilers.
