Lieutenant-colonel (Canada), Lieutenant-Colonel John Keiller MacKay (July 11, 1888 – June 12, 1970) was a Canadians, Canadian soldier, lawyer and jurist. MacKay served as the List of lieutenant governors of Ontario#Lieutenant Governors of Ontario, 1867-present, 19th lieutenant governor of Ontario from 1957 to 1963. Henry Poole MacKeen
Henry Poole MacKeen, SM, CD, QC (June 17, 1892 – April 20, 1971) was a Canadian lawyer and the 23rd Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia from 1963 to 1968. Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, the son of former Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia David MacKeen, he served during World War I as an artillery officer, reaching the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and was wounded in 1916. After the war, he received his LL.B in 1921 from Dalhousie University. He was a practicing lawyer and served during World War II as the commanding officer of the Halifax Rifles 2nd Battalion from 1945 to 1946. He was also the Honorary Lieutenant Colonel from 1948 to 1960. He helped to defend Kurt Meyer, Canada's only jailed war criminal. In 1933 he was appointed a King's Council by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. He was appointed Lieutenant Governor in 1963 and served until 1968. Edward Chester Plow
Edward Chester Plow, (September 28, 1904 – April 25, 1988) was a Canadian soldier and the 22nd Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. Education Born in St. Albans, Vermont, he was educated at Lower Canada College and then entered the Royal Military College of Canada in 1921, student # 1649. Career He was commissioned in the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in 1925. He served in Canada and England before World War II began. During World War II, he commanded the artillery of the 1st Canadian Corps. In 1944, he was promoted to Brigadier, Royal Artillery. After the war, he was promoted to Major-General and became the commander of the Eastern Command in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 1958, he was appointed Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia by Prime Minister John Diefenbaker and served until 1963. He died of lung cancer in Brockville, Ontario in 1988. Fabian Aloysius O'Dea, (January 20, 1918 – December 12, 2004) was a Newfoundland and Canadian lawyer and the fourth lieutenant governor of Newfoundland. Family He was the son of John V. O'Dea and May (Coady) O'Dea. In 1950, O'Dea married Constance Margaret (Peggy) Ewing. They had four children; Deborah (1951), Victoria (Viki) (1953), Stephen (1954) and Jane (1956). Life and career Born in St. John's, O'Dea was educated at St. Bonaventure's College, Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), University of Toronto, Dalhousie University and Christ Church, Oxford. In 1939, he was selected Rhodes Scholar for Newfoundland, but delayed going to Oxford in order to join the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve, where he served as torpedo officer. In 1945, when he retired from the reserve he attended Oxford for a BCL degree and was admitted to the English Bar at the Inner Temple in 1948. Campbell Leonard Macpherson (July 4, 1907 – June 28, 1973) was a businessman born in St. John's, Colony of Newfoundland and was the third lieutenant governor of Newfoundland. The son of Cluny and Eleanora Macpherson, he was educated at Methodist College, St. John's, Westminster School, London and Columbia University was appointed Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1957. He began his career in the family business at The Royal Stores in 1925. In 1965 he became president of that establishment upon the death of his uncle, Harold Macpherson. Joseph Leonard O'Brien (November 10, 1895 – June 18, 1973) was a Canadian politician and businessman. Born in South Nelson, New Brunswick, he was a member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1925 to 1930 and was Speaker of the Assembly. By profession he was a lumber merchant, operating a small sawmill in South Nelson. In 1940, he was elected to the House of Commons of Canada for the riding of Northumberland.
