1963 NCAA Men's Division I Ice Hockey Tournament
The 1963 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament was the culmination of the 1962–63 NCAA men's ice hockey season, the 16th such tournament in National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA history. It was held between March 14 and 16, 1963, and concluded with North Dakota Fighting Sioux men's ice hockey, North Dakota defeating Denver Pioneers men's ice hockey, Denver 6-5. All games were played at the McHugh Forum in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Qualifying teams Four teams qualified for the tournament, two each from the eastern and western regions. The ECAC Hockey, ECAC 1963 ECAC Hockey Men's Ice Hockey Tournament, tournament champion and the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, WCHA 1963 WCHA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament, tournament champion received automatic bids into the tournament. Harvard Crimson men's ice hockey, Harvard, the ECAC champion, declined the bid to the tournament and was instead replaced by the runner-up Boston College Eagles men's ice hockey, Boston College. McHugh Forum
McHugh Forum was a 4,200-seat multi-purpose arena in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Built in 1958, it was the first on-campus home to the Boston College Eagles Boston College Eagles men's ice hockey, hockey team. It also hosted the NCAA Frozen Four in 1963.
