1963 Miracle Match
  The 1963 Miracle Match was an Australian rules football game contested in the second half of the 1963 VFL season home-and-away competition’s round 10 "split round" matches. The match, between the Fitzroy Football Club and the Geelong Football Club, and attended by 16,221 spectators at the Brunswick Street Oval in North Fitzroy, Victoria, on 6 July 1963, was one of the major highlights of the 1960s, wherein the young, inexperienced (and, for the 1963 season, winless) Fitzroy team unexpectedly, comprehensively — and, for some, "miraculously" — beat the experienced and powerful Geelong team, 9.13 (67) to 3.13 (31): a team that had finished second on the 1962 VFL Ladder, had already won six, and drawn one, of its nine home-and-away matches, and would eventually go on to win the 1963 VFL Grand Final and premiership. Graham Campbell
Graham Fraser Campbell (22 July 1936 – 30 January 2022) was an Australian rules footballer who played 151 games for the Fitzroy Football Club in the Victorian Football League from 1956 until 1964. Playing career In his playing days Campbell was both a rover and half-forward, at his peak in 1957 when he won Fitzroy's Best & Fairest award, the Mitchell Medal. He was a handy and consistent goal-kicker for the Lions, kicking at least 18 goals in all but his first and last season. Although the club had limited success in this era he did play in a Preliminary Final with the club in 1960 and in their Night Premiership side (Pre-season premiership) in 1959. Coaching career Campbell later turned to coaching and after a stint with the reserves he got his first taste of the big time when he was briefly Fitzroy's caretaker coach following Graham Donaldson's resignation in 1974. Kevin Joseph Murray MBE (born 18 June 1938), commonly nicknamed "Bulldog", is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Fitzroy Football Club in the Victorian Football League in 333 games over 18 seasons. Family The son of Daniel Thomas Murray (1912-1992), and Eileen May Murray (1913-1998), née Dowdle, Kevin Joseph Murray was born on 18 June 1938.
