The 1962 Houston Oilers season was the third season for the Houston Oilers as a professional American football franchise; For the third consecutive season, the Oilers appeared in the AFL Championship Game, only to lose 20–17 in double overtime to the Dallas Texans. American Football League
The American Football League (AFL) was a major professional American football league that operated for ten seasons from 1960 until 1970, when it merged with the older National Football League (NFL), and became the American Football Conference. The upstart AFL operated in direct competition with the more established NFL throughout its existence. It was more successful than earlier rivals to the NFL with the same name, the 1926, 1936 and 1940 leagues, and the later All-America Football Conference (which existed between 1944 and 1950 but only played between 1946 and 1949). This fourth version of the AFL was the most successful, created by a number of owners who had been refused NFL expansion franchises or had minor shares of NFL franchises. Clyde Brock
Clyde Vern Brock (born August 30, 1940) is a former professional Canadian football offensive tackle in the Canadian Football League for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He also was a member of the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League. He played college football at Utah State University. He is a member of the Canadian Football League Hall of Fame. Early years Brock attended Ogden High School before moving on to Utah State University, where he was a multi-sport athlete. He practiced football, basketball, baseball, wrestling and the shot put. In football, he was a two-way tackle, playing behind Merlin Olsen and Clark Miller. Brock missed the 1961 inaugural Gotham Bowl against Baylor University. Roland Jackson
Roland (; frk, *Hrōþiland; lat-med, Hruodlandus or ''Rotholandus''; it, Orlando or ''Rolando''; died 15 August 778) was a Frankish military leader under Charlemagne who became one of the principal figures in the literary cycle known as the Matter of France. Joe Bob Isbell (born July 7, 1940) is a former American football offensive guard in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns. He played college football at the University of Houston. Early years Isbell attended Little Cypress High School, before moving on to the University of Houston, where he was a team co-captain as a senior. Professional career Dallas Cowboys Isbell was selected by the Houston Oilers in the twentieth round (159th overall) of the 1962 AFL Draft, but instead chose to sign with the NFL's Dallas Cowboys as a free agent in 1962. On September 11, he was placed on the injured reserve list, but returned in October to play in 9 games. Arthur Ray Perkins (born May 1, 1940) was an American football fullback who played college football for North Texas State and professional football for the Los Angeles Rams (1962–1963), Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1964–1966), and Edmonton Eskimos (1967–1969).
