The 1962 Central State Bronchos football team represented Central State College—now known as the University of Central Oklahoma—during the 1962 NAIA football season. The team was led by head coach Al Blevins. They played their home games at Central Field in Edmond, Oklahoma. The Central squad finished the season with an undefeated record of 11–0, and won the NAIA Football National Championship over in the Camellia Bowl. The Central Oklahoma Bronchos college football team competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II, representing the University of Central Oklahoma in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The Bronchos have played their home games at Wantland Stadium in Edmond, Oklahoma since 1965. The Bronchos claim two national championships. Taft Stadium
Taft Stadium is a WPA-built stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It is the current home to teams from Northwest Classen High School, John Marshall High School, Classen School of Advanced Studies, Oklahoma Centennial High School, as well as a professional soccer team, Oklahoma City Energy FC. Built in 1934, the stadium closed in 2013 and reopened in 2015 following substantial renovation. As part of the renovation the seating capacity was reduced from approximately 18,000 to approximately 7,500, with the red-stone facade being the only feature left unaltered. A new all-weather track replaced a dirt track which was installed in 1946. In addition to the high school uses for which it was designed, Taft Stadium also briefly hosted professional football games in 1968 as home of the Oklahoma City Plainsmen of the Continental Football League. Alfred T. Blevins (1922 – October 22, 1988) was an American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Central State College—now the University of Central Oklahoma—from 1958 to 1963, compiling a career college football record of 82–46–6, and two conference championships, and a national championship. He ranks first all-time for Broncho coaches in winning percentage and sixth in number of games coached and victories. High school coaching Blevins was the head coach at John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, and Edmond High School in Edmond, Oklahoma. Central State Blevins was hired as the head coach of Central State College Bronchos men's basketball team 1957 and held that post for one season.
