1961 Republic Of The Congo Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in the Republic of the Congo for the first time on 26 March 1961. The only candidate was the incumbent, Fulbert Youlou of the Democratic Union for the Defense of African Interests, who was re-elected unopposed. The Republic of the Congo (french: République du Congo, ln, Republíki ya Kongó), also known as Congo-Brazzaville, the Congo Republic or simply either Congo or the Congo, is a country located in the western coast of Central Africa to the west of the Congo river.
