1960–61 Cupa României
The 1960–61 Cupa României was the 23rd edition of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. The title was won by Arieșul Turda against Rapid București. Format The competition is an annual knockout tournament. In the first round proper, two pots were made, first pot with Divizia A teams and other teams till 16 and the second pot with the rest of teams qualified in this phase. Each tie is played as a single leg. It is the fourth season in the history of Cupa României when all the games are played on a neutral location. If a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the game goes in extra time, and if the scored is still tight after 120 minutes, then a replay will be played. In case the game is still tight after the replay, then the team from lower division will qualify for the next round. FC Politehnica Timișoara
Fotbal Club Politehnica Timișoara (), commonly known as Politehnica Timișoara or simply Poli Timișoara, was a Romanian football club from Timișoara, Timiș County, established in 1921 and dissolved in 2012. During its existence, the team won two Cupa României trophies and was twice runner-up in the Liga I. It amassed 49 seasons in the latter competition. Named after and initially run by the Polytechnic University of Timișoara, the club was founded in 1921 by mathematician Traian Lalescu. After two decades spent in the regional leagues, Politehnica promoted to the top flight in 1948. Fotbal Club Progresul București, commonly known as Progresul București or simply as Progresul, was a Romanian Association football, football club based in Bucharest. Rapids are sections of a river where the river bed has a relatively steep gradient, causing an increase in water velocity and turbulence. Rapids are hydrological features between a ''run'' (a smoothly flowing part of a stream) and a ''cascade''. FC Caracal was a Romanian professional football club from Caracal, Olt County, Romania. History The club was founded in Craiova in 1949 under the name of Metalul Craiova. It had various names during its history (see below), but the name which made it famous was Electroputere Craiova. As Extensiv Craiova it played its last season in Liga I. In the middle of the 2003–04 season, Extensiv changed its name to FC Craiova, but with no connection to the FC Craiova that existed between 1940–1949. In 2004 the club was moved to Caracal and renamed ''FC Caracal''. After years of poor management and bad decisions, in 2013 the club was dissolved. FC Steaua București was a Romanian professional football club of which two current entities are claiming the records. The original ''FC Steaua București'' team was part of the namesake CSA Steaua București sports club and belonged to the Ministry of National Defence. In 1998, the club and facilities were separated from the sports club and taken over by a group of shareholders in a post-Ceaușescu privatisation scheme, allegedly leading to one of the shareholders (Gigi Becali) acquiring full ownership five years later. However, CSA Steaua București sued the football club in 2011, claiming that this was a new entity; the two have since been in a legal conflict regarding the ownership of the Steaua brand and honours, which resulted in multiple court cases and the forced change of the name of ''FC Steaua București'' to FCSB in early 2017.
