Inger Berggren
Inger Berggren (23 February 1934 – 19 July 2019) was a Swedish singer. Her biggest hits were "Sol och vår" and "Elisabeth serenad", both in 1962. Berggren was born in Stockholm. She began her vocal career with Thore Swanerud's orchestra, and later sang with Thore Ehrling, Simon Brehm, and Göte Wilhelmsson. Berggren represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1962 in Luxembourg with the song "Sol och vår Sweden was represented by Inger Berggren, singing " Sol och vår", in the Eurovision Song Contest 1962. Berggren was selected by a national final called ''Eurovisionsschlagern, svensk final''. Another singer, Lily Berglund, also sung the song t ..." which was placed seventh. She was the mother of the actress Gunilla Röör. She died on 19 July 2019 at the age of 85. The Eurovision Song Contest 1960 was the fifth edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest, held on Tuesday 29 March 1960 at the Royal Festival Hall in London, United Kingdom, and hosted by British television presenter and actress Catherine Boyle. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the United Kingdom was offered the rights to stage the contest after the , which had won the , declined the opportunity after having previously organised the event in . returned to the competition after an absence of one year, and made its first contest appearance, bringing the total number of participating countries to thirteen. Sweden chose its entry for Eurovision Song Contest 1960 by the national final, Melodifestivalen 1960. The winning song, "Alla andra får varann" was performed once by Östen Warnerbring and once by Ingrid Berggren. However Sveriges Radio decided that Siw Malmkvist would represent Sweden, as she had been denied that the previous year. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1960 Melodifestivalen 1960 was the selection for the third song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the second time that this system of picking a song had been used. It was held on 2 February 1960, however an internal semi-final, not broadcast on radio or television, was held on 28 December 1959, where the 8 songs were reduced to 4. Approximately 1100 songs were submitted to SVT for the competition.
