Muzz Patrick
Frederick Murray "Muzz" Patrick (June 28, 1915 – July 27, 1998) was a Canadian ice hockey player, coach, and general manager. He played in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers from 1938 to 1941, and then from 1945 to 1946. He was general manager of the Rangers from 1955 to 1964, serving as coach on three separate occasions during that time. As a player Patrick won the Stanley Cup with the Rangers in 1940. He was part of the Patrick family, which had a long association with hockey: his father Lester had previously worked as the Rangers coach and manager, among other roles; his uncle Frank had founded the Pacific Coast Hockey Association with Lester; and Muzz's brother Lynn had played on the Rangers with him and later coached and managed the Boston Bruins. 1959–60 Chicago Black Hawks Season
The 1959–60 Chicago Black Hawks season was the Hawks' 34th season in the NHL, and the club was coming off of a third-place finish in 1958–59, as they finished the season with a club record 28 wins, and tying a club record with 69 points, and earned their first playoff berth since 1953. Chicago then lost to the Montreal Canadiens in the first round, losing in six games. Regular season After winning the season opener, the Black Hawks would struggle, going on a 14-game winless streak to fall into last place in the league. Chicago would snap out of their slump, and in their next 26 games, the Hawks would have a record of 11–10–5, bringing them back into the playoff race with the Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, and Detroit Red Wings. NHL All-Star Team
The National Hockey League All-Star teams were first named at the end of the 1930–31 NHL season, to honor the best performers over the season at each position. Representatives of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association vote for the all-star team at the end of the regular season. The career leader in selections is Gordie Howe, named to a total of 21 all-star teams (12 first, 9 second), all with the Detroit Red Wings. Alexander Ovechkin is the only player in history to be named to both all-star teams in the same season (as a left and right winger respectively) because of a voting error. The 1960 Stanley Cup playoffs began on March 23, after the regular season ended. It was the tournament to determine the 1960 Stanley Cup professional ice hockey championship of the National Hockey League (NHL) The regular-season Montreal Canadiens' momentum did not stop as they played eight games, the minimum number to win the Stanley Cup.
