Solituderennen
The ''Solituderennen'' (eng: ''Solitude race'') motorsport events are held on the 11.4 km ''Solitudering'' race track near Stuttgart. The event and the track were named after the nearby Castle Solitude. Motorsports events were held there from 1903 to 1965. Due to the narrow track, initially mainly motorcycle events were held there until 1956. The track and the pits were widened in early 1957 and sports car racing was staged by the automobile club ADAC. Grand Prix motorcycle racing events were held at the track from 1952 to 1964, with the German motorcycle Grand Prix taking place there in even-numbered years: 1952, 1954, 1956, 1958, 1960, 1962 and 1964. From 1961 to 1964, non-Championship Formula One Grand Prix races were also held, in addition to previous Formula 2 and Formula Junior events. John Storr (motorcyclist)
Rear Admiral John Storr (18 August 1709 – 10 January 1783) was an officer of the Royal Navy. He served during the Seven Years' War, reaching the rank of Rear admiral of the Red. Early life Storr was born on 18 August 1709 at Humbleton, East Riding of Yorkshire, the son of Joseph Storr. Career Storr was appointed commander on 3 July 1746, and captain on 1 November 1748. He was given command of HMS ''Gloucester'' on 1 November 1748, a position he held until 1753. He was later posted on HMS ''St George'', a 90-gun second-rate ship, in January 1755, a post which he retained until the following year. Cecil Sandford
Cecil Charles Sandford (born 21 February 1928) is a British former professional Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He competed in the FIM motorcycle Grand Prix world championships from 1950 to 1957. Sandford is a two-time FIM road racing world champion and a two-time winner at the Isle of Man TT. After the death of Carlo Ubbiali in 2020, Sandford is the last surviving motorcycle world champion across all classes from the 1950s. Motorcycle racing career Born in Blockley, Gloucestershire, Sandford began his career riding in local scramble and grass track events. In 1950 he was offered a place on the AJS factory racing team alongside the reigning world champion, Les Graham.
