Ekstraklasa
Poland Ekstraklasa (), meaning "Extra Class" in Polish, named PKO Ekstraklasa since the 2019–20 season due to its sponsorship by PKO Bank Polski, is the top Polish professional league for men's association football teams. Contested by 18 clubs, operating a system of promotion and relegation with the I liga, seasons start in July, and end in May or June the following year. Teams play a total of 34 games each. Games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The winner of the Ekstraklasa qualifies for the Polish SuperCup. The league is now operated by the Ekstraklasa Spółka Akcyjna. I Liga
I liga ( pl, Pierwsza liga, ), currently named Fortuna I liga due to its sponsorship by Fortuna, is the men's second professional association football division of the Polish football league system, below the Ekstraklasa and above the II liga via promotion/relegation systems. Run by the Polish Football Association (PZPN) since its inception on 30 May 1948. The league was renamed from Second League (II liga) to First League (I liga) in 2008. It is currently contested by 18 teams, from 2002 all clubs onwards must have a licence, issued by the Association.. The Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (RSSSF) is an international organization dedicated to collecting statistics about association football. The foundation aims to build an exhaustive archive of football-related information from around the world. History This enterprise, according to its founders, was created in January 1994 by three regulars of the Rec.Sport.Soccer (RSS) Usenet newsgroup: Lars Aarhus, Kent Hedlundh, and Karel Stokkermans. It was originally known as the "North European Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation", but the geographical reference was dropped as its membership from other regions grew. Władysław Soporek
Wladyslaw Soporek (born 10 December 1927 in Grodzisk Mazowiecki - died 25 October 1986 in Łódź) was a Polish footballer player and coach. Soporek, whose first team was a local side TUR Grodzisk, spent the best years of his career in ŁKS Łódź, where he won the 1958 championship of Poland. A forward, he was the top scorer of the Ekstraklasa in the same year, with 18 goals. Apart from ŁKS (1953–1960), he also played for Legia Warsaw (1950–1952), Lublinianka Lublin KS Lublinianka is a Polish professional football club based in Lublin. Marian Norkowski
Marian Stanisław Norkowski (17 May 1935 in Toruń – 7 March 2001 in Warsaw) was a Polish football forward, top scorer of the Polish Football League of the 1960 season, with 17 goals. Norkowski began his career in Pomorzanin Toruń, and in 1952 he moved to Polonia Bydgoszcz, where he remained until 1970. With Polonia, he played 7 seasons in the Ekstraklasa, scoring all together 91 goals. He also capped six times for Poland, with one goal. Marian Machowski
Marian Machowski (1 October 1932 – 5 January 2022) was a Polish footballer and researcher specialising in the field of mining and mining machinery. As a footballer, he played as a right winger, spending most of his career with Wisła Kraków. He made one appearance for the Poland national team in 1956. Career Born in Kraków on 1 October 1932, Machowski was the son of a footballer who played for Lauda Kraków. He lived with his family in Ludwinów and later in Kazimierz. After World War II, he became a player of Nadwiślana Kraków before joining Wisła Kraków. At Wisła Kraków, Machowski first played for the club's reserve team and then, from 1953, for the first team. Edward Karol Jankowski (9 January 1930 — 19 March 1987) was a Polish footballer who played as a forward. Born in Bogucice, he played for clubs including Gwardia Warsaw, Legia Warsaw, Górnik Radlin, Górnik Zabrze, Maribymong Polonia and ROW Rybnik. Gerard Cieślik
Gerard Cieślik (27 April 1927 – 3 November 2013), also known as Gienek, was a football player of Ruch Chorzów (1949-1955 Unia Chorzów, 1956 Unia-Ruch Chorzów). Playing for the Poland national football team, he is most noted for having scored two goals against the Soviet Union on 20 October 1957 at Stadion Śląski. The rather small striker (163 cm, 59 kg) was capped 45 times and scored 27 goals. He also played for Poland at the 1952 Summer Olympics. Biography Born in Wielkie Hajduki, now a part of Chorzów, he spent his entire career with Ruch, from July 1939 to June 1959, a tenure which included victory in the 1951 Polish Cup, and 3 Poland Master titles (1951, 1952, 1953).
