Ramkisoen Dewdat Oedayrajsing Varma (March 1907 – 1968) was a member of the Estates of Suriname for the VHP during the 1950s. Varma was born in Nieuw Nickerie. He studied to become a teacher at a primary school, but did not finish it. He became a priest at the Arya Samay and a trader. In 1950 he officially became an interpreter of Hindustani languages in the Nickerie District and he was also chairman of the van Drimmelenpolder water board. Khemradj Kanhai
Khemradj Kanhai (4 June 1912 – 26 November 1988) was a Surinamese politician of the VHP. Kanhai was born in Paramaribo. He studied bookkeeping, but failed his examination. He proceeded to work as a shop assistant at Sauwma, and later he became active in wholesale and retail. Kanhai was also a board member of the Chamber of Commerce. Kanhai was also active in politics as a board member of the 'Hindu Party' that merged in 1949 into the VHP of which he became the treasurer. Harry Francois Sewberath Misser
Harry Francois Sewberath Misser (15 February 1895 – 16 August 1961) was a Surinamese civil servant and politician of the VHP. He was born in Suriname as son of British Indian immigrants and Rammaneruth was his given name. In 1925 he officially chose to be called Harry Francois Sewberath Misser. He was working as district clerk and eventually he became the district secretary of Saramacca. Besides that he was also a politician. At the 1951 Surinamese general election Sewberath Misser was elected in the Saramacca District to become a member of the Estates of Suriname. At the election in 1955 he was reelected and the NPS lost 11 of their 13 seats. VHP-leader Jagernath Lachmon offered two of the elected VHP members would give up their place in parliament in favour of NPS members. Harry Radhakishun
Harry Sharuh Radhakishun (25 July 1921 – 3 January 1983) was a Surinamese businessman and politician. He served as Deputy Prime Minister of Suriname and Minister of Finance from 1969 to 1973, and as Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries from 1963 to 1967. Early life Radhakishun was born in Paramaribo in 1921. He studied at the Hendrikschool ( Mulo), and also attended law classes taught by Julius Caesar de Miranda. He took part for a few years in the correspondence course for accountancy and commercial sciences offered by the La Salle Extension University in Chicago. Publisher Together with his wife Fanny and close friend Lou Lichtveld, Radhakishun established the publishing house "Radhakishun & Co." in Paramaribo in 1952. Politics Radhakishun was a founding member of the VHP. He was a member of the Estates of Suriname (national legislature) from 1951 to 1963 and from 1967 to 1969.
