1955 European Men's Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The first European Men's Artistic Gymnastics Championships took place in 1955. In this championship, there was no team competition, only individual competitions. Only men took part, and the championship took place in Frankfurt am Main. The Soviet Union dominated the championships, and took the top two places, with a total of five golds in the apparatus finals. Boris Shakhlin, who won a total of 14 World Championship medals and 13 Olympic medals in gymnastics, won the overall competition. European Men's Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The European Men's Artistic Gymnastics Championships are an annual series of artistic gymnastics championships for male gymnasts from Europe, European countries organised by the European Union of Gymnastics. History Originally held biannually and in odd-numbered years, the championships moved to even-numbered years in 1990. In 2005 a second set of championships was introduced, titled the "individual championships". Although numbered as a separate event, winners in either event are considered European champions, and the championships as a result have in effect become an annual event, but in two formats; in even-numbered years, a stand-alone men's event incorporates the European Junior Artistic Gymnastics championships (an entirely separate women's competition is held in the same years), while in odd-numbered years, the separately numbered 'individual championships' are held in conjunction with the women's competition of the same description, but without juniors, as a single event. ... Jean Cronstedt
Jean "Janne" Cronstedt (born 6 October 1932) is a Swedish former gymnast. He competed in eight events at the 1960 Summer Olympics. After his sports career, Cronstedt worked as a physician in Sweden, South Africa and Saudi Arabia. Early life Cronstedt was born into the Swedish-speaking Finnish in Helsinki, Finland. His paternal grandfather (né Galindo) was the CEO of the Union Bank of Finland, and through him Cronstedt is partly of Spanish descent. In 1940, during World War II, he was sent to Sweden as a Finnish war child During World War II some 70,000 Finnish children ( fi, sotalapset, the 'war children' sv, krigsbarn) were evacuated from Finland, chiefly to Sweden, but also to Norway and Denmark.Korppi- Tommola, Aura"War and children in Finland during the Seco ....
