1955 Colorado State Bears Baseball Team
The 1955 Colorado State Bears baseball team represented Colorado State College of Education in the 1955 NCAA baseball season. The Bears played their home games at Jackson Field. The team was coached by Pete Butler in his 13th year at Colorado State. The Bears won the District VII playoff to advance to the College World Series, where they were defeated by the Arizona Wildcats. Pete Butler (coach)
Louis C. "Pete" Butler (1909 – January 26, 1983) was an American football, basketball, and baseball coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head baseball coach at Colorado State College of Education—now known as the University of Northern Colorado—from 1941 to 1967, compiling a record of 416–154–2. Butler was also the school's head basketball coach from 1940 to 1943 and again from 1945 to 1956, tally mark of 151–133. His baseball teams won 25 consecutive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships. Fort Carson is a United States Army post located directly south of Colorado Springs in El Paso, Pueblo, Fremont, and Huerfano counties, Colorado, United States. The developed portion of Fort Carson is located near the City of Colorado Springs in El Paso County. Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium
Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium was a baseball stadium in Omaha, Nebraska, the former home to the annual NCAA Division I College World Series and the minor league Omaha Royals, now known as the Omaha Storm Chasers. Rosenblatt Stadium was the largest minor league baseball stadium in the United States until its demolition (Sahlen Field now holds the record). The final College World Series game at Rosenblatt Stadium was played on June 29, 2010. The final game for the Royals in the stadium, and under the Royals name, was played on September 2, 2010, with the Royals defeating the Round Rock Express. Fitzsimons Army Hospital, also known as Fitzsimons General Hospital and renamed Fitzsimons Army Medical Center (FAMC) in 1974, was a U.S. Army facility located on in Aurora, Colorado. The facility opened in 1918 and closed in 1999. The grounds were then redeveloped for civilian use as the Anschutz Medical Campus and the Fitzsimons Innovation Community. History The facility was founded by the United States Army during World War I arising from the need to treat the large number of casualties from chemical weapons in Europe. Denver's reputation as a prime location for the treatment of tuberculosis led local citizens to lobby the Army on behalf of Denver as the site for the new hospital.
