1955 Colorado State Bears Baseball Team
The 1955 Colorado State Bears baseball team represented Colorado State College of Education in the 1955 NCAA baseball season. The Bears played their home games at Jackson Field. The team was coached by Pete Butler in his 13th year at Colorado State. The Bears won the District VII playoff to advance to the College World Series, where they were defeated by the Arizona Wildcats. Pete Butler (coach)
Louis C. "Pete" Butler (1909 – January 26, 1983) was an American football, basketball, and baseball coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head baseball coach at Colorado State College of Education—now known as the University of Northern Colorado—from 1941 to 1967, compiling a record of 416–154–2. Butler was also the school's head basketball coach from 1940 to 1943 and again from 1945 to 1956, tally mark of 151–133. His baseball teams won 25 consecutive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships. Fort Carson
Fort Carson is a United States Army post located directly south of Colorado Springs in El Paso, Pueblo, Fremont, and Huerfano counties, Colorado, United States. The developed portion of Fort Carson is located near the City of Colorado Springs in El Paso County. Fort Carson is the home of the 4th Infantry Division, the 10th Special Forces Group, the 4th Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB), the 440th Civil Affairs Battalion (USAR), the 71st Ordnance Group (EOD), the 4th Engineer Battalion, the 759th Military Police Battalion, the 10th Combat Support Hospital, the 43rd Sustainment Brigade, the Army Field Support Battalion-Fort Carson, the 423rd Transportation Company (USAR) and the 13th Air Support Operations Squadron of the United States Air Force.
