The First Professional Football League ( bg, Първа професионална футболна лига, Parva Profesionalna Futbolna Liga), also known as the Bulgarian First League or Parva Liga, currently known as the efbet League for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league, located at the top of the Bulgarian football league system. Contested by 16 teams, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Second Professional Football League (Bulgaria), Second Professional Football League. PFC Cherno More Varna
Cherno More ( bg, Черно Море) is a Bulgarian professional association football club based in the city of Varna, which currently competes in Bulgaria's primary football competition, the First League. Founded on March 3, 1913, as an association football branch of the larger sports society SC Galata, the club has spent the majority of its existence playing in the top tier of Bulgarian football. Cherno More is named after the Black Sea, and the football club is also known by its nickname The Sailors. Cherno More's home ground is the Stadion Ticha, which has a seating capacity of 8,250 spectators, with plans to move to a new all-seater stadium by 2020, although due to financial issues, the construction has been put on hold. Cherno More previously hosted their games at the Yuri Gagarin Stadium, sharing it with fellow Varna club, Spartak. Stefan Bozhkov
Stefan Bozhilov Stefanov ( bg, Стефан Божилов Стефанов; 20 September 1923 – 1 February 2014) was a Bulgarian football player and coach. He usually played the position of midfielder. Career Born in Sofia, Bozhkov first started to play for a local team Sportist Hadzhi Dimitar. He made his debut on 20 September 1938, on his 15th birthday, in a game against Fortuna. During his club career he played for PFC CSKA Sofia. Bozhkov won the top Bulgarian league, the A PFG, a ten times (all with CSKA), as well as the Bulgarian Cup, three times (all with CSKA). He earned 53 caps and scored 4 goals for the Bulgaria national football team from 1946 to 1958, and won a bronze medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics. He later coached the national team in the 1970 FIFA World Cup and won a silver medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics. Manol Manolov ( bg, Манол Манолов) (4 August 1925 – 16 December 2008) was a Bulgarian football defender and manager. He was born in Sofia. Manolov featured in 57 games for the Bulgaria national football team and won a bronze medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Between 1948 and 1962 he played in 239 matches and scored 8 goals for CSKA Sofia. He was honoured as Bulgarian Footballer of the Year in 1958. Manolov won the top Bulgarian league, the A PFG, a record twelve times (all with CSKA), as well as the Bulgarian Cup, four times (all with CSKA). Hristo Andonov (footballer)
Hristo Andonov (Bulgarian/) (1887–1928) was a Bulgarian revolutionary and a leader of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMARO). Biography Hristo Andonov was born in the village of Grčište (now in Republic of North Macedonia). He joined the revolutionary organization IMARO, but because he was wanted by the Ottoman authorities, he escaped to Bulgaria. During the Balkan Wars, Andonov was a volunteer in the Macedonian-Adrianopolitan Volunteer Corps in the revolutionary band of Ichko Dimitrov. Later, he was a member of the revolutionary band of Kosta Hristov Popeto and he also served in the 4th company of the 15th Štip Division. At the end of the First World War, he participated in the restoration of the IMRO and joined a revolutionary band that operated in the region of Strumica. 1923 he became a leader in the region of Gevgelija, and in the years that followed, he became a leader of the region of Dojran. Georgi Naydenov (footballer, Born 1931)
Georgi Spirov Naydenov ( bg, Георги Спиров Найденов) (21 December 1931 – 28 May 1970) was Bulgarian football goalkeeper and manager. He is considered the greatest Bulgarian goalkeeper of all time. Between 1955 and 1965 he played in 176 matches for CSKA Sofia. He was honoured as Bulgarian Footballer of the Year in 1961. Naydenov won the top Bulgarian league, the A PFG, 8 times (all with CSKA), as well as the Bulgarian Cup, 3 times (all with CSKA). He was respected for his incredible work ethic and his determination during training and matches alike. International career For the Bulgaria national football team Naydenov featured in 51 games and won a bronze medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics. He played for his country at the 1962 and 1966 World Cups. Even after he had retired from competing he still remained one of the fittest players in Bulgaria and this made his death all the more mysterious.
