Ekstraklasa
Poland Ekstraklasa (), meaning "Extra Class" in Polish, named PKO Ekstraklasa since the 2019–20 season due to its sponsorship by PKO Bank Polski, is the top Polish professional league for men's association football teams. Contested by 18 clubs, operating a system of promotion and relegation with the I liga, seasons start in July, and end in May or June the following year. Teams play a total of 34 games each. Games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The winner of the Ekstraklasa qualifies for the Polish SuperCup. The league is now operated by the Ekstraklasa Spółka Akcyjna. 1955–56 European Cup
The 1955–56 European Cup was the first season of the European Cup, UEFA's premier club football tournament. The tournament was won by Real Madrid, who defeated Stade de Reims 4–3 in the final at Parc des Princes, Paris, on 13 June 1956. The participating clubs in the first five seasons of the European Cup were selected by French football magazine '' L'Equipe'' on the basis that they were representative and prestigious clubs in Europe. When the tournament started, Real Madrid, Anderlecht, Milan, Rot-Weiss Essen, Stade de Reims, Djurgården and AGF Aarhus were the reigning champions of their respective national leagues. The Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (RSSSF) is an international organization dedicated to collecting statistics about association football. The foundation aims to build an exhaustive archive of football-related information from around the world. History This enterprise, according to its founders, was created in January 1994 by three regulars of the Rec.Sport.Soccer (RSS) Usenet newsgroup: Lars Aarhus, Kent Hedlundh, and Karel Stokkermans. Edward Karol Jankowski (9 January 1930 — 19 March 1987) was a Polish footballer who played as a forward. Born in Bogucice, he played for clubs including Gwardia Warsaw, Legia Warsaw, Górnik Radlin, Górnik Zabrze, Maribymong Polonia and ROW Rybnik. Stanisław Hachorek
Stanisław Marian Hachorek (21 January 1927 in Czeladź – 24 October 1988 in Warsaw), was a Polish football player and coach. Hachorek, who began playing football in 1945 in CKS Czeladz, spent best years of his career in Gwardia Warszawa, a team that in the 1950s was among top Polish sides. Between 1955 and 1960, he capped sixteen times for Poland, scoring eight goals. He debuted on 29 May 1955 in Bucharest, scoring a goal in a 2-2 tie with Romania. In the same year, he became top goalscorer of the Ekstraklasa, with sixteen goals. Hachorek participated in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, where he scored a goal in Poland's 6-1 victory with Tunisia. Krzysztof Baszkiewicz (27 October 1933 - 25 November 1993) was a Polish international footballer who played as a midfielder for Lechia Gdańsk and Gwardia Warsaw. Wladyslaw Soporek (born 10 December 1927 in Grodzisk Mazowiecki - died 25 October 1986 in Łódź) was a Polish footballer player and coach. Wacław Sąsiadek (4 March 1931 – 2 October 2017) was a Polish footballer who played as a forward. He also played for the Poland national football team, and was a football manager. Career Sąsiadek began playing at the youth level with Pogoń Katowice, and ultimately joined the senior team in 1946. In 1949, he played in Liga Polska with Legia Warsaw where he played for five seasons. In 1954, he signed with Polonia Bytom where in his debut season he assisted in securing the Polish Championship. He concluded his career in the 1960-61 season with Silesia Miechowice after sustaining a knee injury. He died on October 2, 2017. Gerard Cieślik (27 April 1927 – 3 November 2013), also known as Gienek, was a football player of Ruch Chorzów (1949-1955 Unia Chorzów, 1956 Unia-Ruch Chorzów). Playing for the Poland national football team, he is most noted for having scored two goals against the Soviet Union on 20 October 1957 at Stadion Śląski. The rather small striker (163 cm, 59 kg) was capped 45 times and scored 27 goals. He also played for Poland at the 1952 Summer Olympics.
